Having to legitimately call in sick on the first day of the school term, as it really looks like I just wanted an extra day of holidays.

I think that the most obvious days of the week/year are the best ones to pull sickies. It's the classic double bluff!

My groove is messed as I've been living the dream for virtually the last 12 months (that dream being paid quite well to do virtually nothing) and tomorrow it all ends and I have to put some routine effort in again :smoke: Balls.

so our soliciotrs rightly wanted international checks for ID and what have you for money laundering purposes. However... we are all but ready to exchange (they have had the deposit and their fees in total) and they have now SIX WEEKS after asking for them discovered that the international check has failed and actually they really should have asked for certified copies of ID.

A law firm that doesn't understand that copies of ID documents need to be certified. It'd be funny if it wasn't so worrying.

Throughout the last six weeks they have also falsified emails to us (to try and avoid trouble for not contacting us for three weeks when they had the sale contract), repeatedly given assurances that all was fine and ready to proceed only to then go back on it hours/days later and say something was missing. They inspire no confidence and the seller is getting more and more likely to pull out with each new delay. It really is our dream house and I'm rather worried we'll lose it because of their total incompetence.

I hate to be negative here, but the lawyers need to be fired before they cost you more than the loss of the dream house. As in, the sellers not only stop the sale but end up suing you for lost time/value/etc.

Seriously, you're going to end up in litigation with the sellers and the law firm at this rate.

Elizabeth Peña died. Man, if I had remembered, La Bamba would have been third on my list of movies I can't help but watch. Love Ritchie Valens, love the movie, love her very sympathetic acting in it. And her performance in Lone Star is so good. She was only 55.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Just got news that my aunt has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and its pretty serious. For any of those living in the United States, how are the cancer treatment facilities in Montgomery, Alabama? Because that's where she lives.

I'm sorry to hear that.
My grandfather was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and he passed away because of it, so I feel for you. From what I understand, the worst case scenario (treatment not working) is a life expectancy of around 5 years, so it can be considered a pretty mild form of cancer.

Alabama is not where the best and brightest cancer docs go (New York City would be that particular locus), but I think she'll have a decent standard of care. Birmingham is about 3x as big, but might not have a hospital with a better standard of care.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

She's in the medical profession, she's a psychiatrist, so she should have contacts. Thing is we have been out of touch for sometime and then this happens

Thanks. We do have some experience with cancer, my grandmother was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia back in October of 2001, but due to regular treatment and care, some awesome effort from my mother and an absolutely amazing doctor, she is still with us. Her health has been going downhill for the last two years, but considering the initial prognosis was 10 years, its still quite good. Now it I just hope my aunt can pull through.

I keep leaving work to the very last minute.

I'm even aware of myself doing it, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I'm not even really getting into panic mode now...

Our realtor is borderline incompetent. We've had him recommended to us by colleagues, he sells 20 properties a month, a big shot and all that. Has the open house showing of our apartment on the same day as 10 other open houses in the vincinity! We had two couples come by...two!

He's not taken out any adverts in the local newspaper or put flyers and shit in the mailboxes of surrounding buildings....le sigh.

Deathbringer: Yeah, me too, most of the time. Worst feeling in the world. What is it that you do, and what do you want to do?

I do nothing, thus the feeling. I've just moved, so I'm in a city where I have nothing productive to do, actually, strike that, have nothing to do. I sit around all day.

I think it comes from trying to make a challenge for yourself. I do it too. It's like an office-related adrenaline rush thing.

I think most everybody feels that way at times, I know I do, especially at work. Try to find something that you love and dive into it.
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

It's easier said than done if lack of work also equals lack of money. You have to get creative to keep yourself busy and entertained at times like that. Find something to do as a volunteer if that is possible where you live?

I don't doubt you were nearly right - thankfully (see happy thread) it's now all sorted. The only person likely to end up on the end of litigation is our solicitor - by us and the seller. Everything is completely in order (I had another solicitor recommended by the firm I work for look at everything) and now said solicitor is going to wish he'd never been born.

Well the seasons are changing, and that means my dust and pollen allergy is kicking up again. Have been sneezing non stop for the past hour. My eyes are burning, my nose is sore, and I may have pulled a neck muscle. I hate this time of the year. Posted Image
