Medical research ethics has driven me to the bottle! Bureaucracy pain and stupid media scaremongering making people unwilling to allow us to investigate their gene sequences

Still in the US Mez, or does that rediculous religious 'we want to get sick and die' fly on the other side of the pond too?

I'm back in the UK. It's not so much religious stuff as "You're going to keep my DNA in the bank and exploit it to infringe my civil liberties/clone me". I'm happy that the patients have the right to refuse to take part, I just wish they were more well informed.

I just laughed. It is an awkward statement. "Hope your mouth feels better!"? Oh well.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Is the toothpaste ad on in the US with the opening line "You're mouth is amazing"? Filthy thoughts abound every time I see that!!

Just tell them that if the government really wanted to, it would already have their DNA and could do those things if they want. You are trying to figure out ways to keep them alive.

Yeah, and then I'd be struck off! Which has its advantages..... You have to be really non-commital about recruiting for research trials because if patients feel remotely pressured then you can get in big trouble. Which is reasonable. Sick people shouldn't have to feel bullied. However, we can't even ask without ethical approval so I wish people would realise that it is safe and regulated. Patients tend to readily agree to other research projects but are really against DNA based stuff, which is a pain in the ass for my line of work!

" God my head is killing me. As I said in "The Contest" thread I went to a swimming hole (I live in the mountains) and the water is probably around 50F, so it's damn cold. And it's fast as hell because of the snow melt. Anyway, where I was swimming with a couple buddies it was fast and hell so we floated down to the rocks on the edge of some big ass rapids. Anyway, we decided to swim back up to our spot, and I went to dive in and slipped on algi and got sucked into the rapid, smacked my head and opened some skin and went through it, luckily only scratched the fuck out of myself and got a bunch of bruises.
tl;dr My head is killing me, alcohol please. "
From Watching Trickster, I just didn't want to retype it.

Because they decided not to since it falls on a Saturday this year.
Anzac Day is a national public holiday in Australia and New Zealand, and is commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year to honour members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) who fought at Gallipoli in Turkey during World War I and also to commemorate the soldiers who fought in France and Belgium.
