Abyss is at the bottom of the manladder? O.o

Seriously though Sombra, I hope you don't actually think this thing is true? I get the feeling that whoever wrote it doesn't get out much...

Hollywood wrote it :D

That's a little harsh on Abyss, I mean, if he really is Batman I'd totally admit to it and maybe even stream it on the net. :p

The Man's Ladder does seem to be missing a few rungs at the bottom (ie women you just wouldn't fuck under ANY circumstances for whatever reasons, but then again I do have a smidgen of self-respect), but I contend that the Woman's Ladder is 100% accurate.

Ie "You're so nice/why can't I date guys like you/you're like a brother/yadda yadda yadda" then she goes off and fucks YET ANOTHER outlaw biker. Then whines about it. Women have 2 ladders, and to make the jump from the Friend Ladder to the Fuck Ladder is one of the most perilous quests a man can undertake.

So there. :D

Sounds like she might actually have clinical depression. Maybe suggest she try looking into it and help for it? It's not one of the most common illnesses in the world for nothing.

Yeah, when I even broach that subject with her she get's really upset though, and I don't want to get in trouble at work. It's just tough to watch, and not even her girlfriends can cheer her up. It likely Is clinical (and since I had to deal with that with my mum I'm likely more attuned to it), but those sorts of people won't get help until they decide to sadly.

One thing you can do (or suggest to one of her close friends/family) is make an appointment with a psychologist for her and take her to it and be with her as much as she wants, just as a first step to her seeking help. Of course if she does not want to you cannot force, but it might just be a catalyst for her to seek help. I have had psychologists suggest this to me, but made it very clear if the intended patient does not want to be there, they have every right to leave etc.

It is a sucky situation to be in, as, like it or not, other peoples moods do tend to affect our own if we are around them enough.

Also, Sombra, I don't think I have those ladders :p My brain is clearly faulty by those standards :D

As for my groove - it is lacking sleep and motivation. BAH

Messing with groove today: Mrs. QT came home last night and proceeded to be overwhelmed by the stress of all her work emails, the fact that it's been two weeks and her credit card company hasn't sorted getting her a new one after the identity fraud, her father told her he wanted a monopod for his camera from one store (which she bought for $120) and her sister tells her that he wants a different one, and other assorted crap. Not the best to have to come home to all that after a nice relaxing vacation. I feel that a few hours last night may have undone seven days of relaxation in the Caribbean. Poor thing.

Got left out of a Benefit's meeting at work because the person who sent out the email to everyone forgot to put me on it...wtf?! If you are the person who sends out the emails...do your job and INCLUDE EVERYONE!

Fuck, I loathe today already.

Secondly, I replied to an email with "reply all" to a main customer about a design I have to do (copying off a previous design to make a new version), and they APPARENTLY don't know we farmed the work out to a different place to print, so in the email I mention that I am working on the design, but need to be getting an image file from that farmed out place so I can work on the design for the main company.

Then the coordinator for the sales guy for this main customer says that said main customer is unaware that we farmed the work out, and that I should not have "replied all" about it. Fuck you sales guy! If you don't want them to know how you are printing their job outside the walls, and I have to email back and forth with this main customer all the time... then I HAVE TO BE IN THE FUCKING LOOP ABOUT YOUR PLANS YOU DICKHEAD!

By hoods hairy balls, can today just go away please?

The fact that you cannot abide them, as you put it, is really going to help them. /sarcasm.
I actually take offense at your statement. Read on for why.

I quite understand her. Sometimes, you feel just that you don't have the time or the opportunity to pursuit your dreams, or that the opportunity has passed you by without having taken it up. You can't just replace such a dream when it shatters with something else. At the same time, you also realise that to continue hoping it may one day come true is also not going to help you. I think it is a phase we all go through - look at the amount of divorces, and see the disenchantment that comes with a lot of marriages. Singles get it, too. Working people, who realise they're part of the machine now and can't quit to travel, or for whom promotion is not going to be in easy reach.

With women, there is the added time pressure of the ideal age of child birth. There is a reason why there are so many single women of 28-35 really desperate for a stable relationship: it's the clock that's ticking for them before they enter an age where child birth has increased chances at complications. I've dated girls that say at the first date that they want kids within two years. They're that upfront - better to scare off the guy on date 1 than invest in him and break up over this issue when you are emotionally committed.

And beautiful girls? Y'see, the thing is, like QT says: you think she can get any man she wants. Are you going to approach her? No, probably not, because she can get any man, why would she go for average you?
So can she get you? Not really, because you're not going to make the effort towards her as you've already disqualified yourself, and you might actually be a bit suspicious of her intentions if she approaches you.

So from whom does she get attention? Well, confident sons of bitches who see her as a good lay, and who gain more confidence (and may move on) when they get her. Dogs that want to hump her leg or drool over her to look popular with their mates. People who go for the outside. Her boss at work, who relishes a fresh little morsel. And those are also the people who will move on to the next golden maned long legged creature when she walks past. Decent stable BF who will be really, really happy with her is not going to be in her life unless she's lucky and decent stable BF-guy makes a move for her, or reacts to her show of interest, or decent stable BF-guy is also beautiful and really confident.

I know a girl who is a ridiculously beautiful redhead. Charming, talented, works at a law firm as PR agent. Completely disenchanted with life. Her boyfriends/ lovers are either high in the firm (usually married), or newly started lawyers whose heads are filled with dreams of money and the rich life, or minor celebrities who she meets at the upscale cocktail parties for the rich and famous in her network.

They all tend to be shitheads - but she dates them. Why? Because they approach her, because they pay her attention and start off by showing affection. They make her feel wanted. Most women hate her guts - I think she has very few real friends. The only guys outside of that crashing love life are those valued by her are the ones she can talk to - but she cherishes that so much that she's never going to date any of them for fear of breaking that fail safe. So yeah, vicious circle.

Now, sure, that is at the very least partly her fault for fishing in the wrong pond - but through 6 years of high school and 4 of university (perhaps more), she never found a good guy either, before the career circle started to come involved. But yeah, you'll perhaps find her in a corner of a restaurant in a city somewhere in Europe, and wonder why that gorgeous creature looks so sad and is on her own. And then you go on clubbing with your mates, having a good time.

So don;t tell me you can't abide such people. They're people too, and most people have issues. End of story.

You misunderstand, Tapper. When I say sad sacks, I don't mean people like the one QT described. She clearly has a problem, if it's that glaring to him. And perhaps I should've said, people with illnesses AND very real, very bad problems in their lives (like the ones you described) are justified. I'm not completely ignorant: I have a mate whose family more or less hates and belittles him, and if he moves out they'll disown him utterly. His mental state isn't good, he's had therapy a few times. His love life has basically been one heartbreak after another. The only reason I know this is because of his Tumblr account, where he lets all of it loose. And he is totally validated in doing so, because there really isn't another place he can vent. His life is constricting him.

Now, maybe I'm not as experienced as some, but to me, sad sacks are those people who didn't have said illnesses or problems. They are grade-A whiners. They were rife at my school, and they never got into the spirit of things or wanted to let their hair down and have fun. On school camps, they were constantly bitching and always went to bed early. They wanted to finish it ASAP. So yeah, maybe my definition was unclear, and for that I apologise. I don't presume to judge those that might have actual problems in their lives (to say nothing of the ones you listed). But yeah, just clearing that up.

AND worry about her travelling home by herself. Oh well. It'll be ok. :p

I don't know about the other ladies on the board but I really hate it when men worry about me going about my normal business. Yes the world can be a dangerous place but we aren't all fragile flowers that can't get a bus/train/cab without being in danger of being sullied. Besides, being flashed at makes for a highly entertaining party anecdote.

I was going to say that in my experience, women hate patronizing bfs, but considering my rather harsh reply on the other issue I decided against it :p

Well, that's a fair comment, but let me assure, there's no patronising here. She's been doing this for a lot longer than I've been adding up, and I guess that means she can handle herself. But she's very small and very non-confrontational, and I honestly can't envision how she would deal with a possible problem with unwanted attention. And yeah, I'm probably overreacting. But it is solely out of concern for her welfare. If it starts to interfere with our relationship, then I'll put a stop to it :p

Yeah, good stuff, I've put it on my "whishlist" and will pick it put at some point. I'll content myself with listening to their Trance Around The World podcast for the moment. Picked up John "00" Fleming's Nine Lives though :p

Also will need to squeeze my christmas shopping in sometime before Thursday night or I will have to rush around getting it done next week.

Project managing a lab building project for our business to move out of the university. Small problem, I know next to nothing about building or laboratory installation regulations. Sadly, that is still more than everyone else in the business put together. Why did I have to open my big mouth? Had a meeting with a load of builders and architects last week and I was somewhat out of my depth. I think I'm putting on a decent show and will be up to speed by christmas but it is insane right now.

Even worse, the people who will end up using the labs keep dropping out of my meetings which means I'll have to dictate what their labs look like on the inside. I think we can all guess who will get it in the neck when they don't like the outcome! I loathe people with inflated opinions of their own importance.

Computer issues too. I bought a custom-built gaming PC, with some financial help from my mother... It was pretty expensive. The odd thing is though, she insisted that we shouldn't get the WiFi card and Operating System yet. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH IT UNTIL WE FINALLY GET THE PARTS??? Anyway, fast forward about 4 months, and here I am, with newly purchased OS and WiFi adapter. Installed them both, things are looking good. Until... Oh no, the graphics card is no longer detected... Oh no, the drivers have been fucking THROWN AWAY... Oh no, the WiFi card doesn't actually pick up the router's signal... I have a history of bad luck with computers, and have never not had a problem with them, but now my normally ample patience is running bloody thin.

Edit: And a wonderful way to end a shitty day: Because I was visibly upset by the above issue, my mom called me a c**t. First time I've ever heard her use that word before, and she's wont to use a lot of harsh curses. I feel so honoured.
