Was drinking scotch and got into arguement with my gf's asshat, condescending uncle yesterday. I think at the beginning my argument was sound but apparently I slurred my words a few times later on, thus somewhat nullifying what I meant.
the arguement was moslty how I said youths today swarm even cops because they don't FEAR police as law enforcers anymore...and his argument was that no one should FEAR the police, but fear the law itself...it ended up being about politics and religion....it was like a mish-mash of all the stuff you shouldn't talk about on Thanksgiving.
Groove=messed up.

Another great discussion topic QT. Man, the groove and rant threads are gold mines. Yeah, I am not so sure that I'm altogether supportive of police these days, considering how they strike me more as arbitrary bureaucrats than law enforcing entities (see speed limits and parking tickets in America, in addition to the drug den across the street from our condo...) On the other hand, it's not like we give them all the equipment they need and lawyers can be royal pains in the asses (yes I am going into medicine...so a little extra antagonism there >_< ).
And hw taking up my nice weekend = groove derailment.

Speaking as an officer of the law, and just so someone will fight our corner, it is extremely difficult nowadays to get any kind of convictions on the retards & douchebags that plague our society because they throw "human rights" at you from every angle and the real bureaucrats are those in the halls of government who pass laws on policing without knowing anything about it (see our home secretary Teresa May and all her comments about how police don't really deserve to be paid pensions etc. and yet she shows clear signs of not knowing anything about what frontline policing entails). I couldn't tell you what it is like in the US but 99% of the officers I work with and know are just trying to do the best job they can with the limited resources, petty office staff and idiotic members of public that plague the job every day! As a prospective lawyer I should chip in on the above discussion and allow everyone to find a common enemy.

The garbage company with which we f***ing canceled a contract still (1 mo later) have not picked up their dumpsters, which are fire hazards blocking our stairwells...

And as to POOPOO and Tiste, I understand things are very complex and for every douche there are 10 others trying to do the best they can regardless of the profession. I just think regardless of one's professional choice, there are certain things that are allowed to slip through the cracks by tradition (for physicians, in my experience, that is punctuality for appointments and washing hands regularly).
But I can make a thread for this conversation elsewhere should you desire so that we can both complain about other professions while defending our own. If people keep their cool, it could be very informative...

GF and her daughter fly back to Canberra today ... amid general confusion over the Qantas industrial action going on this afternoon. Thus far we have been able to discern their flight is SUPPOSED to be unaffected, but earlier this morning a Qantas person called asking them if they could change flights as the one they are on somehow had 30 extra people. She refused as I'm back to work tomorrow and wouldn't therefore be able to drive them.
