Still some things don't fit that theory and I only hope I'm paranoid, or this is going to be long.

I'm going to fight this but I'm going to hedge my bets as well.

The base one we can actually use is this:

"Tranquility at all hours." Translated from French mind you.

Enforced rather ruthlessly in the past and now it isn't. I was warned for having DnD sessions that were too loud.

I know that in the upstairs lease there was nothing about a daycare being involved (though nothing saying they couldn't and by law the tenants are allowed) and after it was known all conditions and constraints were done oraly.
But there's nothing in our lease about a daycare being upstairs and they never actually told there would be one when they found out (I discovered it by myself) one of the reasons I'm not liking the situation.

How long have you lived there and have you signed the lease annually?

I switched apartments (in the same house) in what will be 2 years ago. I signed the lease then and every year I get a "Reconduction de bail" or "Lease renewal form" in which the only changes are on the price (I read them) and no other conditions. We renew the original lease with amendments to the price only, no other conditions have been changed.

Well, if it were me, I'd argue that there had been a substantial change to the situation such that the original and revised leases were no longer adequately reflecting the situation. Thus, you should be able to negotiate a new rent with the lessers.

Really, best scenario here is a cheaper rent for you. Don't think you are going to get anything more as it isn't really practical.

(I.e., trying to enforce what you want would be cost prohibitive.)

From what I've read on the housing regulation site (that of the gov) reduced rent and or compensation are the only things I can get.
The question is will this lesser rent be worth a whole bunch of screaming and running?

What sort of compensation? If you can get a rebate on price paid versus what you "would have paid had you known blah blah blah" and out of the lease it might be worth it to simply go somewhere new.

I am going to look into other places to live, just in case I don't like how things turn out.
The main problem about moving is I'll be moving almost 3 times in two years if that's the case and I do not want that.
Or if I decide to move only once it's back to my hometown in the next few months in a very abrupt fashion instead of a planned situation (I know I have months, still it's not just the practical side but the social side). Also I'd really rather not move back in with my parents. After more than 5 years of living on my own (no roommates) the idea of going back into a full family environment with little or no privacy is something I'd like to avoid.

I lived in 10 places in 8 years altogether in undergrad and law school, so I guess we are a little bit different on that matter. On living on your own, we are agreed.

Had a ridiculous tiff with one of my friends on Facebook, about a status I made regarding the nationality of the tradesmen working next door. He accused me of racism and practically bit my head off. I apologised for any offence made twice, but he didnt seem to care. This being blown out of proportion just grinds my gears. Doesn't anyone have a fucking sense of humour?

If the daycare operators upstairs brought it in on the sly, then they probably didn't fill in the appropriate permits, didn't get an inspection by the governing authority and probably aren't even up to code for a daycare (they have all sorts of restrictions here in Oz. Get them on OH&S and/or planning permission. Go to the child care authorities if you have to - they're usually quite zealous about rogue operators. :)

With all the trouble down in Libya and the Midddle East and probably other places, the prices are supposed to skyrocket in the near future, i.e the next couple of weeks. Estimated price per litre: NOK 15! That's $ 2.67 per goddamm litre!

My printer's not working and my mom remembered there are still bills that need to be written for her business partners in town, that are due on the last working day of the month, which is today. I'd be happy, if she for once remembered that earlier than an hour before the various shops close down for the day.

Now, to write the stuff manually.. yay..


@Darkwatch: I feel for you, we've got something similar upstairs. Usually just up to five kids, but hell are they annoying. And the people living up there [a family that takes care of other people's annoying brats during the day] aren't any better themselves. We've asked them to tone it down at least during certain hours, but nooo, they aren't bothered by the kids, why should anyone else be.. We've even had a lamp fall out of its attachment once.
