Oh QT I'm so sorry that happened, it's heartbreaking when you can't help your children in the way you wish you could. Like all things you just have to keep pressing on. You've got this man!

Going through the carousel of medications for ADHD is hard for adults - it's even harder for kids. There may be real value in asking for a second opinion in form of a review by a different pediatrician.

I am glad you were there for him during this. Well done there, even as you felt awful.

Retired Bridge burner - what a rough time you had.

I think there's something going on that's medical and beyond your ability to deal (anyone besides him, really). He's afraid of losing connections, afraid of what you not having kids would be like, and quite willing to be a total scrub about yammering to you non stop to not hear the fear whispering.

The times you stood up for yourself included the times you exited the situation, the times when you redirected, the times when you said that's not right, and when you put in a good try. There's not more to be done. This isn't your responsibility to manage.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Thank you amph. I think you're spot on with the medical point - we are fairly sure he is depressed (or something very much in that ballpark) but there is also not even a remote chance he will ever seek help or indeed help himself. Any sensible suggestions of even low hanging fruit ways to help himself spawn frequent rants about "why does everyone try to tell me what to do".

It is sad to watch him be so unhappy, but at the same time it's been near enough 18 years of this with absolutely no effort on his part so my sympathy and patience are more limited than they once were. For context of the 18 year comment - it's all post-divorce. Believe it or not, I had a wonderful dad before then.

Brutal. Had it when I was a kid and when they still removed tonsils. Terrible.

Get it from your kids? My kids are still petrie dishes at 9 and 6.5...LOL

I can do the removal for you, no charge except for my supplies.
...well, ok, one of the supplies is a car battery and jumper cables so i suppose technically there is a 'charge' but you'll be so gone from the vodka and otc painkillers you'll hardly notice...

Every now and again I wonder if Worry is the host for the disembodied spirit of George Carlin with insanely perfect zingers like that.

Im in no urgent rush to buy a switch 2 but I got it into my head to buy one. However supply is no where close to matching demand and it can’t be found. Apparently this is common in the USA for all console launches in the last 20 years according to ChatGPT.

Surely large companies like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony have the ability to predict demand and match it?

I guess this never happened in South Africa because the market was so much smaller.

We were moving the stairs on our deck from the middle to the side yesterday. I was outside from 11 til 6, and burned my neck and shoulders. Painful.

Also, Canada Computers keeps rejecting my credit cards. Which is annoying as I'm trying to buy a new GPU.

I flew across the country to attend a wedding. My luggage got there several hours before I did, which is no big deal. I am fairly sure it sat outside in ocean fog/rain for a while because my luggage now smells like seaweed - pungently so. May have to figure out how to do laundry quickly tomorrow if enough things within smell funky.

Oof.

So as someone with straight hair, and I keep it spikey to some extent, I have used a single hair product for about 20 years (since my hairdresser introduced me to it), TIGI Bedhead wax stick. It's costly, (about $40 on its own) but lasted me about 6 months. And eventually I found it in two-packs on Amazon for $50, so that's a year of hair product sorted for $50, that's not bad at all. And I had a system, whenever I started my last stick, I would order another two pack to keep. I've been doing this for years now without issue. But I went to start my last stick the other day (the 2nd of a two pack, the first of the two pack was fine) and the recipe has changed entirely. It smells differently (don't like the smell), and the consistency is more "whipped" than durable wax...like it glides on as If they added more water to the recipe and it's straight garbage now...won't even hold my hair an hour, let alone the day. The original recipe of the stick held my hair so well that at the end of the day I had to double shampoo it to get it out. Anyways, my assumption is that whoever co-packed the two into one amazon order put in one old recipe and one new recipe. I confirmed this was not a fluke and was indeed a recipe change online as others complained too.

So the TL;DR is that my hair product that I've been diligently using for 20 years is shit now and I'm left scrambling to find a replacement.

The silver lining is that on the thread about the bedhead recipe change I found online, some decent soul threw up some suggestions for similar products.....so I've ordered one, Flagship Dead Sea Clay EXTREME...

Anyways, I'l never understand why some companies cheap out on ingredients and decide that listing customers is better than charging a little more to keep the original ingredients. Like why piss off your user base? So stupid.
