Mediation failed. Now I go to trial for custody.

Is this with your previous partner or your current partner?

Whichever it is, it's rough and we're here for support.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Thanks all. Mediation with the ex in child custody battle. It could have been resolved yesterday, but my ex wants to fight the court appointed psychiatrist's report which came out in favor of me having the kids during the school year. So we go to trial in about a week.

Edit: and good luck with your own situation Amph. That sounds awful.

I’m venting here instead of to the fam.

I’m at the in laws, spent 20 minutes outside grilling steak, chicken, and brats. Balancing it perfectly so they all finished at the same time.

Bring everything inside and they hadn’t started anything else. So now my perfectly prepared meat is hanging out staying warm and drying out instead of being consumed.

Respect the meat.

Afghanistan. Tens of thousands of lives lost or ruined, trillions of dollars ... and for what, precisely?

The ANA outnumbered and outgunned the Taliban but folded and ran like wet newspaper. Just like the Iraqi armed forces when faced with IS in 2014.

Those poor people.

man that's shitty, GH, and amp too. I hope it works out in the end, but it's awful that these situations had to come to pass at all.

Fuck man, catching the nightly news coverage of Afghanistan and footage of the collapse of Kabul. The hoards clinging to that cargo plane as it was taxiing on the runway looked like that zombie movie starring Tom Cruise. Was it called "Zombie War"? or "World Zombie War"? or something like that?

Someone sent me a clip from the news and I actually thought it was a clip from World War Z, starring Brat Pitt

Here's one way to give: an emergency set of rescue flights to literally airlift ~300 targeted people out of Kabul while there's still time. The only caveat really (that I know of) is it's already pretty well on its way to success of funding a second round trip...but I believe overages are being used to help the rescued anyway. https://www.gofundme...-rescue-mission
And this is an org that is more generally focused on direct aid (cash, supplies, infrastructure like wells): https://handtohandsadaqahgroup.org/ but they do appear to have a gofundme focused specifically on displaced families: https://www.gofundme...ies-afghanistan
And the following link has several additional ways to do something, including donate (and if you're in the U.S.) contact your Senators and Rep: bit.ly/afghanistanemergency

They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I was gutted when I saw that, guy was an absolute legend and funny as fuck.

He was class on so many different shows but my favourite had to be 8/10 cats x countdown.

Sad day.

I know, such sad news. He was so damn funny, and a nice guy too.

I've been watching that clip when he got asked what he wanted as his epitaph, and he says 'Something like.. Nooooooooooo...whyyyyyyyyy..... urrghhh.'

What a loss.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I know he beat skin cancer in the early 90's, but apparently he was a HEAVY smoker and so my guess is lung cancer, though they didn't announce he was sick.

But yeah, one of the most genuinely funny dudes I've ever watched.

Not super familiar with him as a comedian, but I loved 15 Storeys High. It's not technically sketch comedy but it kiiiind of is, and this is among my favorite 'sketches' ever made:

I'm also gutted. 8 out of 10 Cats does Countdown is one of the most consistently hilarious shows out there. Sean was one of the key players in that and always made me laugh.

So, my mom found out that I'm fully vaccinated and hell just went down here. She threw things all over the kitchen, demolished her favourite watch (which partly was a gift from me), threw ice cream all over the kitchen floor, shouted abuse at me I don't care to repeat and disappeared from the apartment about an hour and a half ago.

Someone tell me I'm not being an asshole for sitting here and eating pizza. I'm just so fucking tired of this shit. We'd had the talk and had agreed we won't be bothering each other with our respective stances on the vaccine. That talk was the instance I frankly stopped caring if she catches the Corona or not. I'm now only concerned with my own safety and I have acted on that concern. Still, I feel like I'm at fault for her running off and doing whatever.

Also, someone tell me getting my own place isn't as scary as it feels like. My hours have been bumped up to full-time starting in September but I'm too mired in the whole abuse-cycle I've lived in all my life.

Hugs, Puck. Getting your own place is friggin awesome. Sure there's always a lot to sort out and a level of income to keep up but you have so much more control over your own life, it is totally worth it.

And the vaccine thing - you did the right thing. You can't control how other people react to that. It's on her.

Man every time Puck pops up in this thread with a story about her mum it's a wild ride!

Getting your own place is scary but it's also a wonderful thing and, in your case I think, absolutely necessary...
