I am selling my apartment. We've been having a bunch of prospective buyers over, and it will likely be sold on friday. For an absurd amount of money (that will immediately go into paying down parts of the new loan.)
It'll be good to have slightly fewer worries, but at the same time I'll hate to leave this place. I love this apartment. It's central, it's gorgeous, I have lots of wonderful memories. It's necessary to move, we both need more space, but all the same. I'll miss this place.

Well once you've moved you'll be Fargoth, and can look forward to the return of your ring. Positives and all that!

I foresee a massive goodbye shindig.
Make up for all those years of being a good, quiet, considerate neighbour. You know you want to.

Tell the apartment goodbye and thank it for the years of safety and enjoyment. My wife literally does this even when we leave just hotel rooms. It makes her feel better about leaving.
Like a Japanese farewell ceremony.
Good Luck in your new digs! That’s exciting!

Exciting and terrifying in equal measure I think. We had a long talk with a place that makes kitchens yesterday. One step closer to getting a kitchen I'll genuinely enjoy cooking in!

I've seen conflicting accounts as to the root cause of all this - what's your take? I'd sooner take a resident's view than a news outlet's.

Well the cause is people are fucking wankers. Period.
The justification of their wankery action is the PSNI didn't hit the MLAs who attended the fucking massive funeral in the middle of lockdown in June hard enough (IRA funeral, for reals)
The reason the fuckwits are so stirred up is because Foster went full shit stir Donald Trump mode. Fuck both sides. Fuck SF for being stupid enough to attend the funeral in the first place in the middle of lockdown and fuck DUP for trying to use it as political capital so blatantly and fucking pointlessly.
And fuck every person who votes for either of those parties in this day and age

See, a lot of people are interpreting it as a reaction to brekshit. Which is reasonable and understandable, but like I said, I'd rather take a resident's opinion than some news outlet's.

Sitting around waiting for bids on the apartment is the most excruciating process.

Unrelated to Brekshit and yet the reasoning behind what's happening is eerily familiar to what Brekshit has been.
Hopefully it settles down soon eh.

Jamal Murray torn ACL.
That fucking sucks. What a heart breaker at this late in the season. His playoff performance during the covid bubble last season was the stuff of legends.

I'm trying to rent out my flat, but I can't show it in-person due to new over-the-top restrictions from the building's Board. Got a bunch of hits, but no serious prospects.
Also did taxes today. If I don't get the flat rented out by May, I am looking at being very close to broke.

At least 52 mass shootings in the US in the last 30 days (measured as 'a minimum of four victims shot[...] not including any shooter', so Austin's three victim shooting today didn't make the cut):
https://www.gunviole...s/mass-shooting
Places like parking lots, grocery stores, etc.
Significant gun control seems extremely unlikely, unless the Supreme Court is expanded.

I am absolutely humbled by the dedication a mama bird is giving her nest in a tree outside my front door. The nest is just above eye level and I can see her sitting on the nest every time I check it out. My groove meter is on bummed though because we just had a few days of near record low temps (we had snow over the weekend). We are going to have a reprieve today with sunshine and warmer temps, but the forecast calls for more cold by mid-week. I don't think mama bird is going to win the battle against the elements and is going to lose her young ones. I don't think they have hatched yet (haven't seen those weird, featherless, alien heads pop up yet), so maybe if they are still in the egg they can make it through the next cold snap? Lets hope so.

Update: Well, mama bird is still sitting on the nest, so she must have got the eggs/naked alien mouths through the cold. And it got downright cold, like in the teens cold. This weekend we're supposed to be back into spring temps with highs hitting the lower 70s. Mama bird, you are a queen.
