And better security.

Rushing for the subway. Phone slips out of jacket chest pocket and goes skidding in front of me- towards the tracks.

The world slows down as I'm imagining it drop into the opening betweeen the platform and and the subway car pulling into the station. All the hassle I'll need to go through if it gets crushed by it.

Then, as the phone's slowing down, but inching ever closer to that gap, I drop down on my knee and reach out to grab it.

Crisis averted. Get on the train, sit down, and then I notice the pain in the knee.

Look down, and sure enough, I ripped my work dress pants. Not quite as expensive as a 400 dollar phone, but not great look on a client day.

Wait, you're the guy? The guy with a blackberry? I figured it would have to be some hermit living in a cave or something. A failed finance guy whom retreated to the mountains decades ago.

Indeed. In fact I assumed the last person to use a Blackberry passed away in 2008.

Nah. My masters were still handing them out til early this year. A few people i work with still have them. The security features took a while to replace. me an abacus, and I was like WTF am I supposed to do with this?

The last models were actually pretty good, solid interface, could run many android apps. The string attaching the cans was a bit annoying tho'.

Fixed.

Just had my first ever encounter with the fabled soccer mom. Lady gave me this line: "How dare you speak to my child that way! What is your name? I have been using this establishment for X year and I've never had anybody tell me my child can't use the children's library as a jungle gym. I'd like to speak with the one in charge".

I am struck with this horrible sensation of anger and amusement at the preposterousness of the situation.

Went back to the front desk and got to hear her loudly complain to her unfortunate husband about how badly they have been treated all the way out of the building.

Ice.

Not smooth, beautiful, gleaming, clear ice. But craggy, sharp, dirty, uneven, gross ice that grips like hardened cement and clings to the roads and parking pads like a fat kid clings to that last piece of chocolate cake. Fuckin' hell it's been the winter of this horrible ice here. I know when we get that first day above 90°F in June here I'll be wishing for winter again, but as it stands right now winter can't end fast enough.

The utter hypocrisy surrounding the death of Caroline Flack. Eight articles on the Daily Mail site talking about the "]tragedy yesterday.... when the gutter press in this country tore her apart continually. Normal service resumed this morning with an article about her taking her own life because "she was terrified of bodycam footage being shown at trial". Nobody can possibly know that and it seems utterly disrespectful in the wake of her passing. Sticks in the throat just a little.

The tabloids drove her to it, and are now wallowing in her death and loving it.

I despise modern media

I fucking hate Love Island.

This is not related to the recent tragedy in any way. It's just on in my house and I can't bear to be in the same room when it's on. It's the worst. And I bet the people on it are exposed to all the same shit as the presenter was and more, get nothing out of it except for their own perceived portion of fame, and get dumped as soon as the series is over with no support or help with dealing with any of it.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Scarily realistic sound effects though.

Speaking of, what happened to Worry? Don't think I've seen him around in quite some time?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Yes, a break.
He is in no way being mindwiped, brainwashed, and headrinsed. Not at all.
Just taking a break.
