It's like you're 21 again. But this time all the pain isn't just in your head.

Man, I have very distant memories (sepia-toned and patchy, to be sure) of regarding getting home at 0320 as an early night.

Tempus fugit.

This coffee is awful.... and that shit was decanted down into its purest form, it would probably still taste better than this coffee.

And this is why you drink tea.

It's fairly difficult to mess up pouring boiling water onto a teabag.

Brit here. What you suggest is preposterous. It is absolutely possible to completely mess up tea and I'll thank you bit too spread such nonsense! ;)

Can second this. So many variables

Seriously, have you ever experienced a Brit explaining how to 'properly' make tea....? Preheat this, don't overheat that, get the water from there, no not there, there, teabag first, then water, then milk, then sugar, then lemon, then genuflect, face to the Northwest, bow twice, sit, adjust, cross legs, shine pinky finger, right, not left, flex hand, test air currents, check drapes, arrange biscuits, put tape measure and protractor back in drawer, pretend to take first sip, sniff, sample air, check air current, adjust ventilation, sit down again, turn on Downton Abbey, say something about Brexit, lament the colonies, lift tea, lift pinky finger, take sip, reminisce about the Blitz...

You're doing tea wrong if you still rely on the teabag method. While tried and true and works in a pinch it does not give you an optimal cup of tea. If you want the best, buy a tea infuser and purchase loose tea leaves from quality a source. While more expensive, you'll notice the difference. Also, a world a variety opens up. I've made myself a hot cup of tea sourced from more countries then I can remember.

Wise words. Also, tea leaves aren't that expensive, considering you can reuse the same leaves up to five times with quality tea. In fact, the first infusion used to be considered the least tasty one and would even be thrown away. I'm personally partial to the second and third with most kinds of tea. While tea bags contain pretty much the same tea as the loose leaves, they're basically what fell through the nets during sorting. Also, the best kinds of tea are mostly only available in loose form.

I prefer the loose leaf version where you put the leaves in a bowl and add tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, maybe some onion, a little dressing, a little black pepper and you're done.

Yeah, I do that at home.

At work, though, I just need a bitter kick to the head to keep me awake.

I've been ill pretty much every day for 2 months. I have literally forgotten what it feels like to feel well. I keep beating myself up for it like I'm just being a weakling but I've been properly sick. It is shit. And what messes with my groove is that it scares the shit out of me for getting old. Mr PigDog just turned 40 and it's me next and I'm freaking the fuck out. And this week we are on holiday and I'm still weak and sick and I'm mad at myself. Never take good health for granted people.

And never read A Handmaids Tale on holiday. Unless you are part of the patriarchy. Fucking bastards!
