Didn't see it, don't watch soccer but I'm not sure what they could have done, the only thing more embarrassing than losing 13-0 is losing 7-0 and having the other team then obviously stop trying to play. Google tells me this is a world cup match. Sounds like Thailand was not ready to compete at this level. The fault lies with the organizers.

Counterpoint: actively trying to not score is more insulting to the other team.

The collaborative team dancing and celebrating on the sideline near the 90 min. mark adds perspective and gives more insight to why it was not cool.

Maybe. I haven't watched any clips...you raised the number of goals scored.
...and i could be wrong, but doesn't every goal count towards the final score at the end of the Cup? ...so passing on a goal could cost a team the ultimate win?
You want sports teams demure and stoic in victory, go watch... umm... uh... nope, can't think of one. It's not like they refused to shake hands at the end because they were too busy having a celebratory collaborative conga line.

Forgot to write an email at work. It's an utterly unimportant email nobody gives a shit about beyond glancing at once, but I'm so going to get shit over it next week because my manager is such a bitch that she expects me to write emails about stuff she doesn't bother to tell me about, then jumps me and lectures me for ten minutes straight about it. And apparently I am te bitchy one for not saying anything in return. Can't she just fall into some sinkhole or something? Ugh.

The events in Sudan are really heartbreaking. This article has a couple ways to help at the end, but there's dispiritingly few. Link

We had some good days with stepmum but she's unresponsive again. Doubtless a combination of the brain metas with copious amounts of steroids and sedatives.

I have to go back to Yorkshire tomorrow, so had to say goodbye tonight. I won't see her again. And that fucking hurts so much.

But you got to see her again, one more time, and that's what matters.

I couldn't begin to tell you the amount of law school exams and law review articles I've missed in dreams.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

You don't need a helmet for playing football. Only for American football. Which is poorly named because you don't even use your feet half the time.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

You're running on them the entire time.

And 'ovalball' or 'tackleball' or 'concussionball' aren't nearly as catchy.

It's cuz the original 'ball' was a human foot, hence the unique elongated shape even as we started using pigskin.

Had a call from dad. Stepmum is clinging on but fading fast. I don't expect it'll be long now.

I can't tell if I've managed to catch a cold in this stupidly warm weather or what... Sore throat, feeling about as energetic as an overcooked potato... Oof. Naturally, it's Friday evening *sigh*
