Finding a new hair salon to go to is a royal pain and then some. I guess I'm too used to my old one (that's now closed down, unfortunately) and the fact that people weren't just plain stupid there.

Girl, when someone comes into your salon and asks for an appointment und can already see on your face there are none for a whole month, just say so. Don't pretend to look for one, I can see that calendar, too. It's your job to give people information, why do I have to drag it out of your nose one word at a time? That fell right off the list of potential places.

I was just plain ignored at the other salon for fifteen or so minutes, no "hello" or anything. At least they do appointments with less than a month's waiting time, so yay?

And none of these salons are particularly cheap, if I may point that out.

I wish I could just cut my own hair. I don't want to have to be around any of these people, not even for half an hour. Unfortunately, the nearest Russian speaking salon now is in a different town, so meh.

Totally sympathise. My old hairdresser packed in hairdressing (had used her for years) and it's taken me all of the intervening three years to find one I'm now finally happy with. People get all "aren't you just being awkward/picky/whatever" about it but feeling comfortable with the person cutting your hair matters!

Totally agree. I found a hairdresser years ago because I was tired of going to random barbers and hair places where someone I didn't know would try to cut my hair a way I liked...it never worked. So one day I found a hairdresser downtown who I knew was kind of hip and I just told her to do what she wanted and make it look good. She took carte blanche and gave me a haircut I loved more than any other in my life. Over time and my going to see her (she had to move shop like 3 times and I happily followed her) we became friends, I attended her (first wedding) and she attended mine. 12 years later and we are REALLY good friends, she still cuts my hair perfectly without me needing to specify, and I don't know what I would do if she ever stopped being a hairdresser, or moved far away.

Having the comfort of knowing the person just "knows" your hair and how yo cut it is immensely important.

Puck, I hope you find a new one that suits your needs!

Really thinking about it. Just to find out.

Hurts like hell. But I think if I actually was having one there would be no debate and I'd a had to go immediately. I'm not sure how common they are or if people have them and brush them off frequently.

I am not a doctor but by way of a previous life I do have a particular skill set that allows me to say with reasonable certainty it's extremely common for people to have them and brush them off, and if it hurt as much as you posted and you're still feeling it a day later, go see a doctor.

Because you're dying.

Maybe.

I had that same thing with my previous hairdresser who used to be one of my mom's friends, and she's amazing at what she does. I could just let her do whatever and I always left the salon sooo happy. Though technically my mom's friend, I'm actually pretty close to most of my mom's frieds as I'm their go-to-translator-person, so I would see her outside of the salon regularly as well and help her with computer stuff and such, especially after her husband died exactly one year ago.

She then got remarried and turned out to be a bit of a bitch and pulled some nasty stuff on everyone and their dog, closing her salon out of nowehere and leaving the five people who worked for her just hanging and without a job from one day to the next. She then got really pissy with me because I didn't pick up the phone one day and forgot to call her back, only to come back with some sweet talk when she needed my help again, and also we found out she'd been lying out her ass about a lot of things. So, unfortunately, I'm kind of done with her, especially since she now has no salon where I could go to anymore, what with her shitting all over that (it was the oldest one in town, btw, with a long tradition and such).

It's a real pity, I have never so much trust in anyone else regarding my hair. I wish my current hair cut wasn't that maintenance-heavy and I could just go in once a year or something, but the woes of short hair and such. I've now stretched the time between cuts to almost four months and I'm fed up with looking like a wet poodle.

I do hope BK's lack of posts so far today means he actually did go to the doctor.

I have read that this combo of medications sometimes reroutes male ejaculate to the heart, potentially 'gumming up the works.' This was in a xeroxed pamphlet handed to me by a street monk in an ill-fitting, possibly improvised robe and whose tonsure had 5'o'clock shadow, but I have no particular reason to question its legitimacy.

So my country had elections yesterday. Apparently the only thing that prevented more people from double voting was that most didnt believe it could really be that easy. People posted pictures on FB of having their thumb marked 'my first vote' and then having there other finger marked 'my second vote. The electoral commission says this 'glitch' does not invalidate the results. The truth is I think the results match what we all expected but it just shows a further weakening of the rule of law, good governance and competency.

If they did need to steal an ellection and in five years time they probably will they have paved the groundwork.

I'm pretty sure a simple blood test can tell you if you have had a heart attack.based on dimer and enzyme levels. Try a clinic. Depending on the results escalate.

GP might work. Also urgent cares generally cost much less than ER (not to say they're cheap), if you can find one.

For how long?

I expect that you need a requisition from a Dr to get the test in the first place. They won't give you one if it's a waste of time.

I honestly think it'd be cheaper for BK to pack up and move to a country with a healthcare system that actually cares about the patients somewhat and not just their wallets, rather than try to get seen in an American hospital. Baffling...

Oh dear gods, why would anyone even have to consider such things when your health is at stake? I am sorry to say but that is a broken society. It is just wrong. You can say a lot about the UK with Brexit and all that, but when I feel off I can just walk into a hospital and be helped without worrying about financial implications. That is just....insane.
