The lack of sleep and dealing with the disruption of the work-pressured routine seem like bigger issues than the dishes. But it's your experience and life.

Pah. Lack of sleep and work pressure are eternal. Turning the dishwasher on once a day is something I really should have a grip on.

As to your problem - some people take having their partner with them at family gatherings as a given. I find it weird personally but my mum is one of those who drags her partner with her even though he doesn't want to. I think people see it as a status thing. Dig your heels in, cause as row, it's the holiday season after all.

Less of a status thing and more wanting to include you in something they find to be very important. I am the same way. I love my family, I see them all the time, and I want to include my partner in that part of my life.

It sounds like Amps partner is a little too focused on that though, making her unable or unwilling to see his, I think, reasonable objection. Have you tried presenting a compromise, Amp? Some time with them, some time doing your own stuff, some time with them again, and so on?

If they are friends/family, surely they would understand if you explain to them from the beginning that it is difficult for you to follow and engage with conversations if you cannot see their mouth movement or if they talk over each other? Then you could just agree that you can draw their attention when you feel that you are losing connection with events and you are feeling that you drop out of the loop. Surely neither your partner nor their cousins could have any objections to that? I appreciate that it may not make the conversations more interesting or relevant so you still might be bored, but at least then you are on a more level pegging and just resigned to the 'polite conversation with family/friends' that we all have to suffer through on occasion. And you can possibly steer the conversation a bit more.

Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

Fairly sure my sister jacked both my Rogain and eyebrow trimmer.

My daughter informed me I need to dye my hair black cause my wings are in flight.

Now I feel compelled to share a bit of personal info about myself which I will tag. I feel horrible and frustrated about it.

(Tbh I always think mine could be way better. I've been looking at rice cookers, in the UK the decent ones (fuzzy logic) are expensive, but possible to get through japanese/US websites. I'd love to be able to get perfect rice, any type, every time, it might be worth it).
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

My coffee mug must've leaked in my gym bag, because my gym clothes came out soggy and coffee-scented when I was changing into them. I am coffee-scented now, too.

More importantly, I definitely notice a limit to far I can go in regards to my asthma. Which is messing with groove far more than smelling of sweat and cold coffee.

William Goldman died yesterday. I didn't even hear about it till late, which is itself kind of a bummer. But RIP to a legend.

For some reason I know loads of people in the Freemasons. I don't understand how it has happened. And also I thought they were supposed to keep it a secret so why do I know? They all say there's nothing dodgy about it but I feel like suggesting that means they must be in sub-level gamma if they can't use it to wrangle stuff. But they're friends so I can't be rude - outer circle friends, not inner circle, being in the Masons automatically precludes you from being in my inner circle. It's so odd that something I would use as a punchline to a joke is something they take seriously.

Just keep quiet and think of all the child support you've saved.

I was sick with a horrible case of sinusitis (bacterial, it would seem) that is now only abating with antibiotics after a couple of miserable weeks, and my daughter was sick with a horrid cold as well during that time....and since she's just over 2 and can't NOT harass, manhandle, sneeze, and cough in the face of our month old son...HE is now sick. I don't think I'll ever get over seeing green mucus leaking out of the eyes of my children when they are sick infants (daughter had this happen at least twice in her first year). Poor little fella has to be nose suctioned (this is as gross as it sounds) at least a few times a day to breathe, and the doctor prescribed him antibiotics for the eyes due to the mucous leakage.

In an attempt to outdisgust QT, were you guys aware that in some cultures, Asia and the like, to clear their children's (babies) sinuses of snot, they'll put their own mouth over the child's nose and suck the snot right out of their face?

;)

I mean this is what you'd HAVE to do if you didn't have modern medical technology. As it stands, the current process involves a bit of saline solution up the nose, and then a tube and funnel with a filter (preventing the snot going into the parents mouth) and sucking through the tube to pull out the goop. So it's really just a modern tool to do what you are talking about.

Babies can't blow their noses when sick, and have issues breathing out of their mouth...so if they are plugged up, you better get on it, however you can.

It is rather strange exp. Not really something I think can be comfortably or easily brought up after 15-17 yrs have passed. Still I get wigged out when new pics are posted.

Yeah, stay clear and wear large sunglasses and hats in public from now on. Do not leave DNA anywhere. If you blow your nose in a tissue, burn it.

There's at least one website where you can have the snot preserved as a keepsake to remember the bonding experience.
