On the way home from work Friday temps were in the mid 90s (we are in the middle of September FFS!). And then the kicker to make an angry attitude even worse - a Christmas commercial came on the radio! WTF! since when did Christmas advertising start in September?!

Sprain in the l. ankle makes walking down stairs painful.
I've also got a bruise on the R shin from a tackle for which I was (wrongfully) carded last night. But that only hurts when I bump into something with it.
On the plus side, we won the first playoff game.

You can tackle people in soccer?
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

yes, as long as your foot touches the ball before there's physical contact.
Once you got the ball, you can get away with a lot of body contact. I've had a guy dislocate his knee because he hit my quad, and my team got the free kick for it, because I took the ball off his foot, and his swinging kick was late (which is why he kicked my leg full-force)
That was one of the 3 confirmed hospitalizations caused by people colliding with me.

If you're regularly having games where people are being hospitalized or sitting out for weeks, that's not good play. Something has to be fixed. This isn't a professional level game and people have jobs/lives that get disrupted by those bad injuries.
I speak as someone who was sparring with a friend who badly dislocated his toe three weeks ago. First serious injury in probably eight months in the entire gym that regularly features people actually fighting each other and always has regular grappling going on.

yeah, that's over the 8 years I've been playing organized rec soccer. all things considered, it's not that bad.
And like I said, most of the time it's people who hit me (whether maliciously or not) that complain about being hurt. I just do my best to get the ball away from our net.

Football is a sport that garners a lot of injuries. It's the nature of how it is played that it's very easy to injure knees and ankles.

Every three months or so I go to my oncologists office to wait an hour or two to have a five minute face to face where he tells me Im still cancer free. It's really annoying.
I wish they would just send me an email. I think they make you come in though because they can give you good news quickly but they can't give you bad news. So if you only get called in once you will know why. Still it's such a ways of tine

Fuck!
I had Barca, gala, pool and dortmund to win.
Cashed out on 90 mins.
Dortmund and pool score to win in injury time.
Blegh
I always say cash out is a gimmick for tools and this is like on of the few times I've used it.
And yes. It's a gimmick for fools

Me too. I just cannot imagine what is wrong with a person to get entertainment out of making a hoax call like that.
Messing with my groove.... went swimming last night and I was coming out of the changing rooms, ended up sitting with a girl who was in floods of tears because the boys in the birthday party she'd come with were being mean to her. Turns out they kept telling her that her "thighs are too big".
Jesus.... they don't get to be kids any more do they? She can't have been older than 12.
Turns out she rides horses (like me at the same age) so she enjoyed every silly anecdote I could think of about controlling half a tonne of sentient animal with leg strength, and I pointed out all the boys can't do that. She was happier when I left and I had a word with the Mums with them on the way out. That shit is not funny.
Mind you, I definitely think every girl has had a day when she needed an older girl to remind her that boys are stupid and they smell funny!

Someone from the entomology lab up stairs is growing soldier flies for some experiment or another. Apparently the sodding things are not happy with their nice little heap of compost and are escaping en masse. The second floor is crawling with the larvae, and now they are dropping from the sealing to our lab. Ugh!

Yeah, flies have too much self respect to go near you guys.
My groove has been messed with for the last couple of days after my favourite uncle died. He'd been sick a while and recently in palliative care, and last week they stopped doing whatever-it-was that prolonged things. So we all knew it was coming. Didn't stop it hurting when it happened. I actually got a bit choked up after my cousin called me with the news that his dad had gone. I really liked and respected the heck out of that man. He wasn't anything spectacular per se, just a good, honest, reliable and decent man. Didn't say much but I liked to be around him anyway. I always thought he was indestructible. Had that ... solid(?), reassuring presence.
RIP Uncle Bruce.
Yeah, please - no "Aussie Bruce" jokes.

Sorry to say, but that age (12-14) is awful. Young teens are awful. I guarantee you they do it to each other as well. This isn't boys are bad; it's nearly everyone is bad at that age. Hormones, insecurity, peer pressure, etc. Doesn't make it ok, by any means, of course. But it happens. Those same same boys will flip to fawning over her in 2 years.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I don't doubt it at all (can confirm I was at one point a 12-14 year old girl) - and I don't think for a second my point of "don't they get to be kids anymore" doesn't cross both genders. It was just boys in this particular instance. One of the other girls at the party did come find her and was helping, which was nice to see.
Did have to look elsewhere and try not to burst out laughing when said friend said "Look, this lady has big legs and she was swimming LOADS and she's really nice" - that age also apparently possesses no filter
My comment about girls needing other girls to remind them boys are silly was light hearted - I'm sure there's an equivalent.
