Feeling ... conflicted.

EDIT:
@Puckster
Dry winds definitely dehydrate you faster, and they are generally worse for carrying irritants and/or allergens (although it depends what has been recently in season). Boo! :)

When it comes to hydration, instead of working on fixed amounts try drinking enough when you are thirsty (I know, but you'd be surprised how few people do it properly).
Operate on the "Piss clear twice a day" principle. Ie the more yellow it is, the worse you are and the more you have to drink until you are pissing clear. If it's pungent and kinda orange-y (or even darker), seek medical attention. Stat.
B vitamins (eg the Holy Vegemite or the foul, cursed abominations you foreigners consume) can however make your urine bright yellow and a bit whiffy, so bear that in mind.

My SO either has a wisdom tooth infection or an ear infection. Antibiotics, X rays, more doctors.

Plus, despite the fact the she covers up three times more than I do, she has this awful cold.

For someone who has spent the last month under 3 layers of wool, this cold is a mystery

Its a wives tale that being cold increases your likelihood of getting sick. The reason people get sick more often in winter is because we huddle inside together to stay warm and ironically because we huddle under blankets and such that we all share. Makes it easier for bacteria and viruses to cross over from person to person

Being cold enough lowers your immune systems responses though. Typically, going by old wives tales, if you were unlucky enough to get caught in a snow storm or say, fall into a frozen stream or something, chances were you were going to get sick afterwards.

But yeah, your average trip outside in a T-shirt during winter is not going to make you sick. Hell, I try to keep my apartment a nice 10-15 degree celcius during winter. It's pleasant.

My stepdad tried to kill himself last night. He left a message on facebook saying that he loved his family and goodbye, then took a bunch of pills and drank a bottle of tequila. They found him unconscious, then when they got him to the hospital he had a heart attack and they had to revive him.

I'm not really surprised he did this. He has been a very bad alcoholic for years, and that's why my mom finally divorced him. My brothers won't have much to do with him, and while I've tried to keep in touch, the racist and inflaming things he posts on facebook made me decide to unfollow him so I wouldn't have to see that stuff anymore. I forgot to call him for Christmas.

I don't know whether to go to Texas to see him or not. I'm not sure if I'd be a burden to his family there, and I'm afraid my mom would be annoyed with me for going. But as much of an asshole as he is, he was my stepdad for years and my kids think of him as Grandpa.

I think you gotta do what feels right to you and preserve your health especially as it relates to your own family, even if it makes him feel bad for a bit. You aren't obligated to fix him or even do any everyone what you're comfortable doing.

Might be worth exploring options like video chatting with him to see if that's a decent way to connect without the travel and expense of going.

I guess for now I should stay home. They have him in a medically induced coma for now.

Grey day, mostly internally. A lot of future uncertainties (eldest son misbehaving and don't know why, the trainwreck of our government, deciding how to structure time with my gf both when she moves into her house and when I finish my program in June, trying to find a job) and just having trouble wading through the day.

Most jarring, I felt fine on Sunday for the most part. This all hit yesterday, at least mood-wise...

Oh I need help! Can’t decide which King cake to get. Cream cheese and blueberry or bavarian and raspberry.

I can only help you if you tell me what the heck a King cake is?

To my understanding, they're filled with human babies, the ultimate evidence of Louisianan savagery.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Ugh. Car problems. Not on my sexy Estate but the smaller car that Mrs Tiste is learning to drive in. Tried to jump start it today but it wasn't having any of it. That's about the limit of my car knowledge too, so I'm not sure what to do now. Considering selling it for scrap and buying Mrs Tiste a nice cheap Ka or similar.

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I think we all know that if anyone is following anyone else around...it's at Abyss's request....to steal their bookses.

As long as Abyss has given up on his desire to take my brainzzz... We established long ago that the minuscule amount of brainzzz he would end up with wouldn't be worth the effort.

I admit to nothing.

...btw QT, I really appreciate the soft focus in your latest work and the limited but poignant use of lens flare, but could you cut back on the 'shaky-cam' stuff?

Shaky cam stuff was Second Unit stuff. Andy Serkis is responsible.
