A physicist spent the better part of a meeting lecturing me about tax law. Being a physicist means he can intuitively grasp all other fields of study. And then he left before I could explain to him just what I thought of his imaginative interpretation of the law. He had a more important meeting.

I am an arrogant man. Or so I thought. Jesus christ.

This is extremely funny because an accountant spent twenty minutes yesterday evening telling me the moon landing was fake due to human inability to go beyond the Van Allen radiation belts.

Wish we'd been able to switch conversations from them to us to them to them and you and me.

We totally went to the moon, didn’t you point out the video on TV of it happening..

I have wasted 2.5 months of various lab work trying to clone a plasmid. Their was a flaw in my pcr primer that led to my insert being out of frame. Short story it could never have worked. Its an embarrassing mistake and one I checked for before I started. The software missed it though because apparently it only translates frames that are at least 10 amino acids long. So I had my insert with a proper start region in my plasmid. But I also had a frame 5 base pairs earlier.

Not what I wanted my first few months at work to start with

My mother watches reality TV, A lot! Not the bachelor or the amazing race reality TV though. I'm talking judge judy, I'm talking something about a dwarf dance instructor and Kardashian reality TV. This to me speaks of something dark and terrible

Just found out that American Head Charge's bassist died at the end of last year. I loved his filthy, minging basslines. Gonna have to crank The War of Art up later.

Trialing some new drugs for my brain (I suffer from PTSD and anxiety disorder) and they are going well (me and brain drugs traditionally don't get along), however I am SUPER dopey and not supposed to drink while on the trial so of course all I want is a big glass of wine. Damned mental health! :)

My friend is annoying me.

I sent him a 50 second voice note reminding him we have to meet tonight to discuss our holiday plans and mentioning some of the things I know we need to discuss. He replied he remembered but that he would not listen to the whole voice note because he is 'actually' busy and we could discuss the plans tonight. He then accidentally texted me a message meant for someone else that is def not work related.

The thing that bugs me is that he does this all the time. He complains non-stop about how hectic his job his, his workload etc with what I would say is more than a little condescension towards myself and others we know that implies we are less busy. The thing is I know what he does at his job (we both used to work at the company part time as students- he is now a manager) and I know that he is not actually that much busier than myself or the rest of our friends.

Its an extension of my irritation from after working nights and weekends in the lab for my PhD he would say something along the lines of I was still a student and I should wait till I got a job. I may have been a student but I guarantee you, ask anyone, a PhD is not a vacation.

I can second ghat observation. It cost me most of my hair and several years of my life, mainly in sweat and tears. You sure you want to go on holiday with a poser?
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I lost my favourite mechanical pencil. I turned the entire apartment upside down and it's still missing. I know that sounds silly, but I have to go a special shop an hour away to get a new one 'cause the online listings don't say whether the model they're selling has a fixed lead guidance sleeve or a cushioned one (which are annoying af) :)

My father needs to have a surgery as the patch on his tongue, while not cancerous yet, can certainly become so.

Here's hoping that they get it off, and he comes out okay. I'll send good vibes your way Ando!

Better to have it dealt with now for sure!

Yeah, the doctors are really emphasizing that if we get rid of it now, we probably get to kill it before it really starts. I want it dealt with this month.

All the fingers crossed for your father, Andorion. Urge him to have it done sooner than later.

I was just coming to this Forum/thread to ask how your old man was... Good it's not cancer bad it requires surgery to go away. Stay on top of him about those meds. That really fucking concerns me though you saying hopefully it's taken care of this month. Why didn't they schedule it when they consulted him? Are they backed up? Hope it's nipped in the bud soon and for good.

Well, we got the reports and met the doctor today, we meet the surgeon next week, and hopefully get everything done by the 25th. The surgeon seems to have a scheduling issue and we need to talk to the insurance people.

People standing beside three (!) "Non-smoking area"-signs and... smoking. You fucking dimwits, never mind the fact ALL train stations in Germany are non-smoking areas but nobody ever cares, that's got to be the next level of stupid. And I see it every single day.
