My mum and her partner are coming to stay for 5 nights from tomorrow. FIVE NIGHTS! They only live 3 hours away. I go to hers for 1 or 2 nights. Always leave them wanting more not glad to see the back of you - it's a key to good relationships. Now fingers crossed they follow up on the promise to be here to help rather than as guests since I still can't walk without it hurting my hip. Usually they treat the place like a hotel so we shall see.....

Nervous energy about the mediation appointment this Wednesday. If it works, I can fill the remaining paperwork and have this divorce over by the first week of May while racking up less than $1000 in attorney fees....

Mez - i suspect that you already know this, but i`ll throw it here anyways... if there was ever, EVER, a time when you can lay down the law as far as family stayings, goings or doings anythings... yes, anythings... including breathing too loud, it's now.

Do not, under any circumstances, forget that your wants/needs/spurious-whimsical-random-bullshit-whatevers cover two people, one of who is utterly vulnerable and depends on you to make the correct decisions to remain happy and stress-free(ish).


What anyone else wants isn't even secondary or tertiary, it's vigenary (that's 20th.... wheeee latin!).

This isn't an attack at you but these kind of statements really get my back up. The worst kind of them are the soppy ones like "every girls father is her hero". I've had people say it to me and I want to strangle them. God knows how people whose parents mistreated them deal with that kind of thing. Just by virtue of having procreated does not make you a useful person. Some parents are utter twats.

But anyhoo, my mum mostly means well but is and always has been hugely self absorbed. I practically raised myself from the age of 16. I'm attempting to give her a reset. This visit is supposedly to help me around the house and garden and then she's coming again in June on her own after the baby arrives and when Mr PigDogs paternity leave has ended. The Abyss nuclear option will be rolled out if it has to be and there may need to be a difficult conversation to point out her partner does not automatically get to be around as if he was my dad. She retired last month so my sister keeps winding me up that she is going to try and move in! I shall endeavour to remain zen.

Everyone in my family is kinda on the edge of their seats regarding the results of some medical tests for my father. Cancer or not, it's not a pleasant experience.

Yeah, there's a natural tendency if not perceived need to try to reset family or certain parts of them, with a baby on the way. It's not so much a potential mistake as a misplaced priority. Adjusting familial behaviour is a trial at the best of times - the chronically self absorbed can be particularly trying - and this is the most exciting and awesome of times, but the best, no, not so much, or at least not the best for this kind of thing.

Doesn't mean you shouldn't try. But it does mean the instant you find yourself moving from optimistic fuzziness to stress, shelve this plan til later. Vs pregnancy, it can wait. It will wait. And it doesn't have to be you going nuclear... Mr Pigdog is gonna be a daddy, he can play enforcer now.

So yesterday I didn't feel too bad (after 3 games on Sun), due to the fact I had a deadline @ work + a make-up gam after work. So I'm guessing I mostly kept myself toned and together on adrenaline/anticipation

Today, with all the pressure off, I feel sore pretty much everywhere, from ankles to shoulders. Not the "i've damaged smth" sore (although my l. ankle does look swollen), but the decently pleasing "I'm physically exhausted and wrung out" sore.

Which is normally a GREAT feeling. Except I have to work. And all I want to do I sleep.

The fact that my office has no AC and a wall-sized window facing south (so, in the sun all day) is NOT helping

I'm currently trying to write an application for a new job. Its an ideal post as it would involve expanding on my current knowledge (finance based) as well as extra responsibilities and a significant pay bump.

My problem is, I haven't written an application in over 3 years and the process for these has changed internally since then so I am really struggling. I know what I want to write I am struggling with the putting it into coherent sentences.

Although it did make me smile by being able to tell my dick of a boss that I was applying for a new post lol
