You're welcome.

Here are some more....

- Our way is the cold way.

- Any man who must say 'I am cold' is not truly cold.

- It's not easy being room temperature all the time. Everyone would do it if it were easy.

- The man who passes the thermostat should raise the temperature.

We have a monumentally fat man in our open plan office and air conditioning units that can be changed by anyone. He has quite an aggressive character and relatively senior in the business so when he changes the AC settings we are all too scared to say anything. His preferred setting at all times of the year is to have the AC on "Cool" mode with the fans on high and the temperature set to 19C. For fucks sake, it is absolutely freezing. The rest of us all have items of clothing to keep us warm at our desks, it was 30C outside last week and I was walking around the office wearing a fleece!! As H&S officer everyone complains to me about it but it isn't a H&S issue in UK law until the temperature gets below 14C. I tell everyone to report it to the office manager as it is more a question of office etiquette. The moron office manager has passed it back to me as a "H&S issue" and she is also a rather aggressive and irrational character so there is no arguing with her. I'm sick of being freezing so have decided to take it upon myself to install lock boxes over the AC and apparently I get to choose the settings :p/> Only 2 weeks before they are all fitted and the shit hits the fan (I've bought fatty a desk fan so that I can pretend I give a shit about his wellbeing). I might buy myself a lot of very cool clothing and set the things to "Heat" and 25C.

However, messing with my groove right now is the fact that I'm fecking freezing while chubby is knocking back his Type 2 diabetes pills and doesn't even have his desk fan switched on!!!!!!

To be fair, 19c is not cold. To be fairer, people who are feeling cold can wear more clothes - people who are too hot do not have the opposite (or any, really) option. Unless the guy is turning the temperature down and wearing several layers, then he's an idiot.

Not to mention that a hot working environment (and 25 is hot) is not conducive to productivity. 19 is hardly going to the other end of the scale so doesn't have the same detrimental effect.

Not to be a dick about it, but also constantly mentioning that the guy is fat is kind of a mean thing too - while that might have something to do with his preference for cooler air, it's not very fair to 1) assume that and 2) make it part of the issue. Plenty of people at my work like things to be around or below 20 (including myself, but that's irrelevant), and others would rather we have it closer to thirty - and we actually can't wear more layers, so finding a happy medium is kind of hard - but there are plenty of people of all body sizes in favour of both options. There guy may be a dick but that's no reason to be one yourself. * shrug *

Here we have workplace health and safety standards, between 21 and 24 i believe, depending on equipment in the room etc.

19 degree for a desk job where you don't move is a bit much, even if people can bring in jumpers, you should not have to bring in things that heavy into a workplace. As somewhere who prefers it colder at work, I at least have the decency to consider others in the office.... and not tell people what it hot and cold and that they are being unfair or otherwise for asking me to consider others comfort.

Edit: changed temps after some checking

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

We have similar, but they aren't strictly enforced that I am aware. With no AC in the office where I work, the temperature in the summer months is 27 by noon and 29 by 2pm. On the hotter summer days we end up in the low thirties in the late afternoon. Very little actually gets done after 3pm.

The only way around the temperature for us has been to start and finish earlier or put in some extra hours on one or two days and leave early the rest of the week.

Trust me Silencer, if you knew this guy you would be happy about me calling him names. He is not a nice person. And sitting at your desk with a 19C wind blowing on top of your head all day is rather unpleasant. I have even had to go the lengths of putting an extra cardigan over my legs like a blanket to keep warm and I certainly prefer to be cool rather than hot. He sees all of this and says nothing. One lady has taken to sitting with her laptop in a corridor to keep warm and another preferred to go upstairs to the ladies bathroom rather than walk through our ice storm. I have even sat in meetings with him and potential business partners and the partners put their coats on because they are so cold. I know work place temperature is subjective but having it set to one persons preference when 95% of the people around him have a preference not to be freezing is just too much.

And please don't call me a dick.

fucking club bouncer gives me shit for wearing jeans and hush puppies (this is AFTER I already changed out of runners--ffs, neither Kingston, nor Winnipeg ever gave me shit about runners, fuckin' GTA lounges that think they're "clubs"), and when I walk into the place, I see a guy wearing a goddamn muscle T-shirt.

seriously, FUUUUUUUU. If it wasn't a friend's b-day, I wouldn't be caught dead in that place. And here I am, having to practically beg to be let in. argh.

I mean, I wear dress clothes (and shoes) for work 5 days a week. I go out to relax, why are you making a fuss out of minor shit like this?

Dear news outlets:

I would like to have well researched in-depth news stories. While I'm happy that you've embraced Social Media, you can lay off trying to pass random tweets as legitimate news. I don't want some racist 57 year old's opinion nor a trigger happy 18 year old's. I want solid journalism the kind relegated to Sunday morning radio or television programs.
Please dedicate 75% of your air time and posts to journalism based on facts, not being a repeater for a twitter/text feed. This idea of storyfying is cheap and misinforming.
If you must spam social media then do so on social media not during moments or on sites that are supposed to be dedicated to the story.

Sincerely DW.

you clearly haven't been to Eastern Europe. Runners are God's last gift to man. Not to mention they are the most comfortable form of footwear imaginable.

So true!

I haven't watched TV for ages, but now being stuck at home, I'm catching the evening news a bit more frequently. I am watching the news now to see what random people are saying on Twitter? Is this for old people who don't have an internet connection or something? When did this happen? Have you sacked your entire research and journalism team and replaced it with a teenager with an iphone? What do I need you for then?
