Was all dressed up, ready and primed to go see a friend turn the tables in a DJ competition at the Royal Melbourne Hotel. Well, turns out the only form of ID they accept is a driver's license/permit, and I lost mine some months ago. Thus, the trip of many hours, became a trip straight back home. I feel worse for having missed out though, I always feel bad in situations like this :)

Really? What about passports or proof-of-age cards for those who (for whatever reasons) can't drive?

I'll bet if you were a hot chick in a short skirt they'd change their policy. :)

heh, that's what I thought, but they had a scanning machine on the wall. So I think they were probably telling the truth.

Still, might buy a miniskirt for this eventuality... :p

Unless something has changed/is very different there, they HAVE to accept a passport or proof of age (the state's one anyone), unless they have a reason to think it's a fake. I'm pretty damn sure that was the case in Perth anyway, and I really thought it was the case there.

It is, next time, insist they let you in if you have a valid passport or 18+ card.

Back to work tomorrow... I want more weekend!

It is, one of my friends in Melbourne doesn't have a driver's license, only a proof of age card and it's never stopped him getting in to places. I've been to the Royal Melbourne Hotel with him as well.

Still, moral of the story: if you lose your driver's license, get a new one as quickly as possible AIJ. Trying to use anything else is always a pain.

Venues can deny access if the driver license, passport or ID isn't in english. Were you using your Vulcan proof of age card by any chance?

Well I tried using my uni ID, which may as well be a Vulcan proof-of-age by the beard I have in the photo :)

But I just ordered a replacement, so that's good. My friend was pretty gracious about it too.

That I cant get with hardcover copy of book also e-book. I bought Forge of Darkness, but Im going to vacation and really the hardcover is simply too heavy to run with it around Iran. I paid for the book, I probably will pay for czech translation too...and damn, publisher could be fair and let me get also ebook... Because I wont pay for same book twice or three times...:wallbash: Jesus, I paid most expensive format of the book, I just want to read in on holidays, in bed on iPad, on my way to work...and not to lift ton hardcover which is nice, fits to my collection, can be rad in any time at home, but...arrrrgh.

OK, maybe its business, but... Im just pretty angry now. And no, I wont pay again :( (OK, ORC must be made - despite many publishers dont do it and ebook is shitty - but OK, give me discount price and not damned same price as hard...HOLY JESUS, I just realized that Kindle Edition is about six dollars more expensive than tha damned hardcover!!! Fuck it, seriously...)

Sorry, I needed to rant...:)

That was Ed Sheehan Sim and it was tolerable, at least Nick Mason was on drums.

Tolerable compared to the Fucking Spice Girls still making my ears bleed, they need to be put down with extreme prejudice. Still talentless, still mediocre and still making a living out of it. I could throw babies into the sun after listening to that shit.

Also Annie Lennox in a rotting yacht ? WTF was that about.

Today's Ugh:

That cool 2012 remix Kate Bush did for RUNNING UP THAT HILL is ONLY available on iTunes as part of the London Olympic Symphony of British music compilation....which is $19.99....which I am sure has to do with the IOC or whoever is selling the disc that has forced the artists hand to do...and I also know that at some point it will be available for singular purchase (hopefully on her site), but for now this sucks monkey ass and smacks of corporate greed.

Why you ask?

Well the album is like 25 tracks or soemthing....and EVERY LIVE BAND that played are set to "album Only" purchase....while those bullshit renditions of tracks by bands not present last night (Blur, ect.) are avail for singular purchase (because nobody wants those!). Whoever did this is a shitsmack. After the 2010 Olympics in Van city, the album was totally purchasable piecemeal for the closing ceremonies...like minutes later.

Supposed to be going for a meal tonight with my GF and our Aussie mate who flies back to NSW tomorrow.
She wants to treat us.
Thing is, I can't be arsed.
I was up mega early with the baby, will be working late tonight.
I can't be arsed with the inevitable "Sorry Sir, but that dish contains Gluten" that will happen when I order ANYTHING!!!
I don't want I ask my parents to babysit because there not having a nice time at the mo and my Mams Dad(albeit estranged Dad) just died a few days ago. So not cool.

Also, I'm not speaking to my GF, as she's a fucking prick.

Should be a good night.
