(Possibly a new thread could deal with what we'd do with our time while immortal.... )

Well, duh! We'd do everything, silly ;) Although, I only ever do things at the last minute. So I if I had all the minutes, I might never get anything done...... If we're immortal, are we eternally youthful? And are we eternally rich? If so, I'd take immortality. To hell with everyone dying, I can always make new friends. Otherwise, I'd prefer oblivion!

If those are the only two choices, then give me immortality.

Wouldn't it get uncomfortable whent he universe shrank back down to infinitley small, I'm sure you'd be quite, quite mad by the time you'd wandered around for several billlions of years waiting for a sentient race to emerge after the demise of humanity.

A more pertinent question would be even if she was immortal would Gem ever manage to post something without telling the respondent that they didn't understand her 2 posts later in one of the religion threads?

I wonder what sort of impact it would have upon a human psyche to exist for centuries.

That's assuming said immortality also confers physical immortality and you're not just growing obscenely older and older without ever actually dying.

I wonder what sort of person a man or woman would be with, say 500 years, of experiences.

I choose Heaven, immortality doesn't imply eternal youth. Therefore if you live forever, and yet age, heaven would be the better choice.

I don't think heaven implies eternal youth any more than immortality does - most legends of immortality do, in fact, include the benefit of not aging. The immortal(ish) Malazan characters are a good example. ;)

That depends entirely on the respondent. But, if I was immortal, I'd have more than enough time to make myself understood without 'posting'. ;)

@frookenhauer, I'm not sure I understand the question.

Gotta agree with Terez there. Immortality is immortality, no matter where you are.

Heaven does imply eternal happiness, therefore still better than the pain and suffering of eternal life on this planet.

According to the Bible, heaven implies doing nothing but praising god forever. Sounds boring to me, rather than happy...

That's because you don't know what 'praising' mean, also the bible hints on more stuff. We'll have a completely new earth for instance. You'd think, if praising means what you think it means, that heaven would do just fine for that purpose. ;)

Aha ok, so frookie is asking whether I'll end up in heaven or hell, or do I completely misread?

I would choose heaven, but in reality I would like a longer life span. Say a thousand years or more. I would like to see the world end and be reborn again without watching from heaven.

But Heaven is the ultimate goal for me in the end. An eternity of knowledge and praise. Prosperity and contentment. I can meet all the great kings of Israel. Could you imagine sitting and learning with David or Moses? Josiah? And not only that but meeting with my family once more and being free from the things which make us all constricted so much now.

And of course the unknown after the earth is reborn. I think heaven will be far from boring.

But I have a long way to go before I can make it.
