The great memories of Hetan and Mal’s BBQs following Tiste Simeon’s posting his fan pic with SE on the FB group. Crazy times but very special. The fact that our trip to BC and a Salt Spring stopover postponed for a year due to the crisis sucks, but it reminded me that there are some great people to share a beverage with on this forum. Will we ever do it again?

My K-Pop fandom has rubbed off on my kids...and now they both shout at me to listen to Blackpink on repeat.

I'm more okay with this than FROZEN 2 for the 84th time.

We've left Manchester so it's less likely we'll make one of our annual hangouts sadly.

First week of my new job.

Started with a bit of a shock in that the job title is misleading - it's not an admin role, and I'm actually coming in as an investment junior (this is a whole new area to me) - so I have CPD and regulatory stuff to do for the first time in my career.

It's nice to be reminded that actually when I'm switched on and engaged in what I'm doing, and not being run down by a paranoid, micro-managing goblin of a team leader, I'm sharp and pick up new things quickly and well. Been a long time of having my confidence wrecked so this has been a really nice introduction so far Posted Image

That's actually excellent, you get to learn on the job a new aspect of the industry you're in. That's only going to help you as you go along! Awesome.

Geek update: Pluto will be visible all night if you got hawk eyes. If not grab your nocs and look at Jupiter and then pan southeast of it. It will look like a dim star.

Let me know if you catch the view!

Geek update: Newly discovered comet Neowise has survived a trip around the sun and is now unexpectedly putting on a great light show the rest of the month. Will be closest to Earth 7/22 and is visible now with the naked eye.

Let me know if you catch the view!

I saw Neowise last night. It was perfectly centre in the sky above the roof of the house at the end of our garden. I don't have binoculars but could see it with the naked eye and there was not a cloud in the sky for once in this stupid country. Absolutely shattered now after staying up until 11.30pm for it to be dark enough to see. My weeknight bedtime is usually before 10. I am old and pathetic. It was the first interesting celestial thing I have seen in decades due to either living in cities with too much light pollution or classic British cloud. Loved it although being out in my garden alone in the dark reaffirms that I am still vaguely scared of the dark at the ripe old age of 40. I just reflexively think of every scary thing I ever saw or thought and then tell myself it's waiting for me in the dark. It's pathetic really.

Shit I’m extremely jealous. I still can’t find it and I’m good at finding things in the sky. :(

It was almost directly below the lowest point in The Plough / Big Dipper. Supposedly if you look for it too late then you are likely to miss it as it is best either directly after sunset or immediately before dawn. No idea if that is true for where you are. It was very faint.

A job I really wanted that I thought i'd gotten knocked back for is back on the cards after the person they offered it to rejected them! Might not turn out to be anything but i honestly wasn't expecting it :)

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Lol me being blitzed on ambien early to make sure I’m up early for a truck engagement and when I bend down to get my socks I slowly realized I’m looking at a baby snake a few inches from my hands. So I spent the last 10 minutes trying to get it out the corner without injuring it.

Funny.

You sure it wasn't just your Johnson? Might explain the reluctance to move.

Father-in-law is FINALLY home from hospital after breaking his ankle April 1st. He had to remain in hospital due to being overweight and could not weight bear on his other leg to help the break heal after surgery...so we've been stuck for 3.5 months looking after my ill MIL and could not leave town for any period of time.

With him home, we FINALLY get to head up to the cottage this weekend for the first time this year. Get the kids out of the city and just enjoy some sunshine, quiet, and the lake views.
