Nine more work days until my 4 day Easter break. Seeing as how everyone in the office except me has had some vacation time (or will have some vacation time) between January 1st and the end of April, I am eagerly anticipating my little bit of time off. Plans so far include: celebrating my brother's birthday - i.e. eating myself into a food coma - buying up leftover Easter chocolate on the 17th, reading, sleeping, and generally just being a lazy-ass lazy ass.

There is no better way to celebrate time off than by being lazy

I went back to work today after maternity leave. This first month is nice and easy as Mr PigDog is at home with the offspring. I'm having my first lunch break in about 10months. Heavenly. Who would have thought going to work could be classed as having a rest!

Just finished Mass Effect Andromeda.
I was so worried that they'd screw it up. So freakin happy that they not only met but also surpassed everything I had hoped for.
Time to start making a new character I guess.

That's a very different opinion of the game from the others I've seen.

From what I can tell the complaints tend to breakdown to:
- waaaah facial animations (I like the realism of the awkward facial expressions).
- waaaah I can't make a hot white chick in this game (poor racist, sexist babies).
- waaaah Ryder isn't Shepard (go play ME1/2/3 then).
- waaaah they took away the morality indicator (yeah, and replaced it with a better personality system akin to what they used in Dragon Age 2)
- waaaah the game has too many quests/isn't big enough/should have been open world/should have been less open world (Come on guys, a little consistency, please).
The only complaint I feel has any real weight is the one regarding how male/male relationship were treated (or more accurately, not treated) in the game.
But the combat mechanics work well, the story is great, the characters/squadmates seem like actual people instead of archetypes (which you can't honestly say about the original trilogy), it's not 100% perfect on all fronts but what game is? I'd have to look to the minutiae to find things to really bitch about.
Edit: Oh wait, I forgot my favourite complaint: waaaaah Bioware are trying to force their social agendas on me. (That one cracks me up all the time. "Oh no, I asked someone a question and they mentioned their wife but they're female so that most mean they're gay and that Bioware is forcing gay marriage on me! *gasp!*)

At least the dirtbags in Gamergate got to harass one more woman before the Ralph Retort guy goes to jail for assaulting a deputy.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I've been having a rough time lately (work, finances, etc) but this past weekend I decided to re-play Dragon Age: Inquisition. I know it's not the best game out there - and I would like to eventually get a PS4 so I can play Witcher 3 - but man, is it fun to run around and kill Darkspawn; so cathartic. Also, I'd forgotten how funny Iron Bull can be.

It's the weakest game in a lot of ways but it has the best companions!
I genuinely can't say or hear 'Blackwall' without descending into girlish giggles.
And Dorian is basically a magical Errol Flynn.
And Bull's romance scenes.
It may have felt like a MMO where I was the only person on the server especially with the way quests were handled and how the story unlocks, but I still find it ridiculously enjoyable to play.
My one major bitch is that none of your choices affect anything! Seriously, they affect NOTHING.
It makes it feel like a set-up prologue for the next game.

Likely won't happen, but it would be so nice if Bioware just outright stated 'We're including this. Don't like it? Don't play. We don't need your money.'.

Yeah, I didn't like the MMO-structure of the quests and combat, but the companions were great! I played many many hours of this game, though that's possibly at least partially because I bought the game directly following my divorce.
