I'm suffering from a terrible hangover. Last night I was fed around 20 shots.

Normally that wouldn't be cause for happiness, but the fact that I lived to the ripe old age of 26 and met enough good people to join me in celebrating, get me absolutely plastered at their own expense and then take care of me and make sure I get home all right to sleep it off means I've done something right in my life.

No, it's not an average sized engine. It is larger than 90% of regular cars. Then again, it does 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds, while maintaining a fuel efficiency on par with my current 1.6l 4 cylinder. You can achieve the same output with a smaller engine, though the final fuel efficiency gains of a smaller engine is negligible anyway, so the larger engine is more or less meaningless in practice. :p It's like the fact that an Mazda RX-8 can achieve 6s 0-100km/h on a 1.3l engine; the rotary is just a different means of achieving the same result, and it has different trade-offs in terms of reliability and drive layout.

See first part of post. While Holdens and Fords do come with ridiculously large engine sizes, the vast majority of cars in NZ are Japanese made, and I don't think there are 4L engines in anything short of 4x4s, even in Australia, Maccy. XD

And Hyundai is a Korean company, who have exported their car to the US, Europe, and Asian markets. They make a 2.0L version of the car as well, but it's barely as quick my current car. But I believe all markets received a 2.7L V6 edition. So nyah. :p

Most ford falcons have the 4L, infact I *think* its the smallest engine you can get in a falcon (on 5th and 6th gen anyway, 4th gen offered a small 3.2 straight 6) Holden are (Frome my experience) similarly stupidly engines, because they power output is quite frankly abysmal for such a large unit (iirc my falc turfed out 200 when it rolled off the production line, a hell of a lot less when I owned it, from a 4L 6cylinder.engine that's just ridiculous compared to what a Japanese engine can do. Same as American cars, Big country syndrome.

To be fair, I tend to dismiss Fords and Holdens as stupid cars that aren't even suited to their much-touted "V8 Supercars" tournament. They can't corner for shit, their top-end speed is, as usual, useless in everyday driving, and they don't accelerate fast enough until their turbo kicks in, at which point most cars are already at the speed limit anyway. Never mind that the people who "own" them (usually more likely to be a lease or company car) don't drive them properly. Such a waste.

So bite me. I've seen plenty of them with engines smaller than 4L around here - and the ones with larger either don't say on the car, or I've dismissed as utterly ridiculous. I'd never consider buying one, either, so haven't looked at them properly in that sense. XD

This is going to be the biggest gloat ever and particularly self-indulgent considering Messremb's bad news above (hope he's ok!) but...... My resignation from work last week should have been the start of a 3 month notice period but they are letting me go on 25th October with 3 months full pay up front instead. It is mainly because of all the trouble I've been involved in, they want me out the door quietly but it is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened. I had 1 months gardening leave at my last place and I thought I'd never get a better month off as usually when you have lots of spare time, you don't have any money. Now I won't have to work until next January!! And I've got a new house and garden that need sorting out so it is pretty much the most perfect thing ever. All those migraines and statements to lawyers have been totally worth it, I keep needing to pinch myself to be sure it's true.
