Haha. Seriously, all things considered, the Prologue of Deadhouse Gates might be the single coolest thing I've ever read.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Evening out at the Natural History Museum. Wine and the Scott Antarctica exhibition followed by more wine whilst wandering about and looking at fossils and dino bones.

I wanna go and see that too- is it any good? Even with no wine available?

I bet it was cool.

It would be rather disappointing it if was anything but cool.

It was very cool. I highly recommend it. They have bits of their original kit, lots of photographs, some original film and loads of inventories of their food. Turns out they took a lot of jam to the south pole! There are also some of their scientific sketches and specimens, a comparison of the route and strategy that Amundsen took and some diary and letter extracts from the guys who died as they realised their number was up. The most interesting bit for me was the focus on some of the other reasons they were in Antarctica and some of the other expeditions they did as well as going to the pole. I knew about the Scott vs Amundsen bit but not that some of the other men were stuck in an ice cave for 6months, burning seal blubber to stay alive and then walked 6 weeks back to base, half starved!

Thanks for your comprehensive summary of the exhibition! I shall venture down South for a visit. I love the picture they put up all over the tube with on of the adventurers doing a headstand in his gear and the Antarctic ice. That's really what caught my attention. And made me wanna go see it.

Mrs. QT brought me a 40oz bottle of the Macallan LE 2009 (scotch) from the duty free AND a King Size Peanut Butter Twix. Booyah!

Also, the new SSX comes out today for xbox. Squee? SQUEEEEE!

Oh and tonight we begin moving my stuff to Mrs. QT's place. In the immortal words of Shang Tsung "It has begun."

Matt mention something about our cat, Kalam today at work and his reg asked him where we got the name from. Matt said 'It's from my fiancee's favourite book series.' His reg said, 'Malazan Book of the Fallen?" :)

So, that means our vet and Matt's reg have both recognised our cats names ;)

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

This morning I finally broke down and ordered OST from our Amazonion friends in Canada. They suggested I spend a few dollars more to get the free shipping, so I looked, got advice (thanks!), and settled on Bakker - this is my first of his works. Once in the checkout I find that my free shipping is null and void since I had the nerve to live in USA. Curse you international shipping! 2 weeks wait to travel to me. I bet Abyss is responsible for this mess.
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

Mrs. QT messaged me that she got me a copy of SSX.

Oh man, I am SO fucking pumped to play this game tonight! I might be more excited than Loki has been about ME3.

THAT'S how pumped I am!

I ordered from amazon Canada to California, and with the normal shipping I still received it within like 3 days (faster than amazon.com sometimes, actually). The only problem is they use DHL and they won't drop it on your doorstep the first time, so you have to sign a slip and wait another day, unless you're at home when it arrives. Still I'd be very surprised if you had to wait the full 2 weeks.

Thanks for the optimism

And this is why I have it shipped to my office, so it can come at 9 AM and I can sweat bullets all day waiting for a chance to read it in the parking lot as soon as I leave (that;s what happened with TCG, but I will have more control over this time)

This is weird, and opposite to what happens in Canada. Since Amazon.ca ships to us VIA Canada Post In-Country...but if I order from .com they sometimes use DHL once it crosses the border and I run into that issue you mentioned. It's almost like amazon corporate punishing us for cross-border ordering.
