Got my first ever ipod. Only a 4 gig, but it was free. I have joined the modern age. Now if I can just figure out how to get my phonographs there. I can't figure out where to attach the needle.

Free? Nice. Is there a way I could get this done as well? My car has a cassette player. :p
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I just got my first one yesterday. Its pretty cool, but it took me forever to put all my cd's onto itunes.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Have a friend who buys a new iphone, and so no longer wants his ipod because it is inferior technology.

Ah, yes. That'd require friends.

Evidently I have them in the real world too. Just don't talk to them all that often. Got my wireless hub from one, actually.

So, getting free stuff. That's what is making me happy.

Edit: Thanks for the love, Mac. :p

Just got home from seeing The Specials in concert. They played almost all their classic songs (no Guns of Navarone boo!)and were absolutely epic for a bunch of guys whom even I regard as old. So I've danced my little cotton socks off to great music for hours (actually they're quite large cotton socks, but I digress) and am now quite incredibly tired, but totally hyper as I have masses of endorphins running through my system.

So what appears to be making me happy right now is my own messed up brain chemistry...

Tomorrow morning (or should that be later today), when I drag my aching body from my pit and stumble into work with my ears still ringing I shall regret all of this, of course. But that's another day...

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Managed what is for me a fairly productive day, did over 1000 words of one dissertation and managed to find a book I desperately needed for free too, which means tomorrow I should be able to finish my bastard Heidegger dissertation off.

I hope you saw a suitable number of Pork Pie hats!

Happy, me. I had a burst of inspiration at midnight and managed to finish the slides for my seminar to the whole department tomorrow. Now I just have to figure out what to say, but that is a problem for later this morning! *parp*

Oh yes, Pork Pie hats and lots of really old skinheads. Very strange...

And I was right, I do ache like a really achy thing today.

Mmmm, pork pies.

Seminar: rocked that casbah.....kind of. At least enough to not look like a dumb-ass anyway. My audience level was at Prof Factor 10 and I survived a grilling from the Head of School (who once ran away from me after accidentally grabbing a boob in a hugely embarrassing incident involving a projector and a confined space!). Ah, my life could be a sit-com.

This is the first week night in 2 weeks where I haven't had to stay in work late or bring work home. Sweeeeeet. I feel like I'm on holiday! And.....as much as I love Toby, not even miserable Scousers make me feel as happy as miserable Arsenal fans.

@SM - I always guage how good a concert is by how much pain I am in the next day. If your ears are ringing and you are aching all over, then it is a good sign. The best one was when I was in pain a week later, and I couldn't move my neck properly. :p

Ah, I could do with one of them. My neck cracks like an arthritic grandma every time I move it and my shoulders are so tense they've got knots a sailor would be proud of. I envy you, m'lady.

But on the plus side, I have just 600 words left of my philosophy dissertation to do, and I have to add abit more to my introduction and then write my conclusion, which should account for it. So essentially, Im done. AT FREAKING LAST. Then I can finally go to sleep. Before starting my 8000 words politics dissertation tomorrow. Sigh.
