Back home after an immensely enjoyable trip to Sydney. Watched an entire session of the cricket in the Bradman museum today as well. :D

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

I started P90X. It's a good feeling getting in better shape.

However, my muscles sincerely disagree. Yikes I'm sore.

Got my first set of course materials delivered, for the first module of my OU Physics degree. It makes me happy, but also a little scared at the same time. To quote Hot Fuzz (itself quoting Bad Boys II): "Shit just got real!"

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

After 2 days at an evacuation centre I returned to my place to find the flood waters had NOT gotten into my place. If they had risen another 2 metres or so, it would have been a different story. I had moved almost everything of value upstairs before I got out, but only really had time to put the bottom 1/3 of my books upstairs. I could take losing my new fridge, kitchen stuff and a few other things on the ground floor (I have a 2 storey townhouse), but I was most worried about my books. Spot the geek eh?

The funny thing is the vast majority had been in storage for years until a few weeks ago when I moved in, but they had stayed in their boxes until last week when my GF came up from Canberra and we got the new bookshelves I think I mentioned previously. We spent 2 days putting them into alphabetical order. 3 days later, a day after I put her on the plane back to Canberra, I had to get out. Projections during the worst of it had the flood level peaking well into my ground floor. Thankfully it didn't get that bad. For me.
