Having a good chuckle at the hundreds of people who seem to have been upset by Bruce Springsteen's Manchester show being "political".

Have you perhaps heard of.... his entire back catalogue? Posted Image also I have no idea why British people would be mad at a staunch Democrat coming out swinging about Trump. Can't wait for the Liverpool show in a few weeks!

Trump Demands 'Major' Investigation Into Beyoncé and Springsteen Appearances in Late-Night Rant

[...] After the Boss responded at his show Saturday by calling Trump an "unfit president" whose administration was "persecuting people for their right to free speech and voicing their dissent," [...]

"HOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT?" Trump wrote. "WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISN'T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCÉ? …AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter."

The Democrats, however, already beat him to it, as Harris' campaign spending came under scrutiny after the campaign raised more than $1 billion but still lost every single battleground state during the election.

Yes but did they try sending him to Gitmo to be electrocuted into telling the truth?... Let Musk surgically insert a neuralink (or two), then he'll talk!

Aside from this (and plenty of other stuff), Trump's actually made a bunch of surprisingly good proposals recently. And now it seems there's an accelerating rift between Trump/MAGA and RFK/anti-vax over measles, vaccines, etc.

It's hard to watch my sister and BIL (who are still deeply RW and believe a lot of the Trump shit) take their time coming around on topics. We don't talk about politics anymore to save the family events from upset...but I HAVE hit them recently with one topic a time with facts to try to help bend them out of it....a while back I informed my sister of the carbon tax existing due to the removal of Cap & Trade by Ford in Ontario....and that before that it didn't need to exist for the consumer, and that we HAVE to have some carbon emission policy to stay in good trading terms with the G7....she took that single issue fact info in with quiet reservation (unheard of for her, she's traditionally a loud mouth) and we didn't speak of it again (nor did she rebut me; I call that a win)...I've been informed by people in the know about cults that I'll never get an all at once "We were wrong" comment or public realization from my sister, and that we should not expect one en masse by the Maple MAGA cult....when they come around, it will be quietly, personally, internally, and they will likely NEVER admit fault, even if challenged...but internally they will realize, even if it's a decade from now that they were duped.

Like I'm watching a documentary series on Vietnam at the moment and it's SO EASY to see how they (The Boomers and those that they have co-opted and affected into their conspiracies, like my Gen X sister) got there...Vietnam was the first inkling that this very generation began to realize and mistrust of the government as a whole as having lied to them, over and over about things to try to avoid telling them the brutal truths that would lose them (I mean he's obviously not, but they see him as that nonetheless)...there's a guy on the doc who said America exists as Before Vietnam, and After Vietnam as a fundamental divide in history where a loss of innocence happened and never returned.

I realize the comment was lighter and about the Boss (Springsteen is the man!), but I always come back to how we got here with Maple Maga existing at all...and I think that's why.

"Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/facepalm."

It was a joke post that looked real that basically had the press woman saying that it's illegal for Springsteen to call himself "The Boss" because he's not actually the president of the US.

Someone mocked it up, sure, but it's not that far removed from actual dumb stuff that has been said.

Went to watch some of the TT racing over the weekend with my son. It's such an insane race and while I'm not really a motorbike guy, it was a lot fun.

I had a bunch of really good friends in Grade 7, and 8, who I lost touch with after I left private school, and I could not recall any of their names to try to re-establish links with them now....but the other day my dad handed me some stuff he found, and one of the things was the program from our Grade 8 class play and EVERYONE was listed there so I was able to find a few of them on social media and catch up. Made me feel all fuzzy to see them doing well and thriving. I never had friendships even in high school like the ones I have in Grade 8...we were tightly knit.

Not really. Although I'm quite proud of the fact I've stayed good mates with a guy I met in grade 7, when I was 12 (cough1984coughcough).
I was his best man in 1993 and we text often and our families get together for dinner every 6 months or so.

My regular Friday fortnight TTRPG has been running since ... October 1996. Myself and a couple of others are originals, but a few others have come and gone.
The "new guy" has only been with us since about 2001 or thereabouts. It's all blurry back that far. ;)

Had a very social Saturday starting off with flowers to my partner, who received a title bump and a pay raise, some work, seeing a friend for his daughter's birthday, over to help other friends put together a giant swing set (7+ hours they did, my partner and I put in a couple hours that was mostly organizing and distracting the kids), then an early bed for a train trip today to NYC to see more friends for lunch.

Really enjoying the personal side of life lately.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I should add that we've been so busy that my clean laundry is 3 piles, my dining room table is overflowing with things that need to be put away, and my basement isn't organized at all. Yet I'm happy.
