I bought Mr NAB an archery beginner's course for his birthday (we'd talked about giving it a proper go after moving).

We both passed the course on Wednesday evening, so can now join the club and be insured. We have an appointment to go bow shopping tomorrow morning. I'm so excited! :D

...and his/hers matching Hawkeye costumes, right? Or are you more the Green Arrow types?

Cool. :)
You going compound or recurve/longbow?

I had a compound bow waaaaaaaay back in ... 1987-1990 when I was an archery club member. Good times.
Archery is good for your shoulders and back, as long as you do the correct drawing/holding technique, even with a compound. Ie, draw your shoulder blades together and gently "push" the bow more than just pulling the string.

The technician at the archery shop said much the same as you just have technique-wise!

We are shooting recurve for the moment, barebow to begin with but with the possibility we'll move on to sights later (we did have a go at both as part of the course). We just need to go have our induction this week and then we're fully in and can start getting some hours in practicing :) it's really surprised me how much I enjoy it.

The club does a Hallowe'en shoot. I'll be disappointed if none of the above make an appearance!

Seems like archery would be a great candidate for augmented reality... whatever fantasy targets may be desired (so long as you don't accidentally shoot people (including yourself) of course... or other unintended animals for that matter). And not just costumes, but complete visual transformations (or as complete as you want them to be---perhaps morphing your faces with others, etc.).

Would make the Olympics a bit more interesting (for most people at least) too... in fact they should use augmented reality for most events. Make it seem like the sprinters are actually sprinting away from something worthy of fleeing from as fast as they possibly can...

Spent a few hours at the beach today. The tide was in, so I did about a klick and a half swimming across the waves. exhausted, but in a good way.

Weather supposed to be good tomorrow as well. Did all the chores today, sohopefully gonna hit the beach earlier tomorrow. Aiming to finish the third Staveley book (got just over 100 pages left, so it's very plausible).

This week was sorta brutal, but workwise I'm in cruise mode for the next 2 weeks until I head back south to my parent's place to help out with the festival for Independence Day. So there's loads of good time to look forward to.

Feeling better about the weight crisis. 223 this morning, much better than 275 in May. Not as good as 200 at Christmas, but headed in the right direction. That’s a pretty drastic swing though in eight months lol. I need to work on that.

Buddy, there will be waves of this, yet your waves are headed in the right direction. Congrats and may this lead to contentment - maybe on a beach watching more fun waves come in.

Sue, the Defender of Chicago send her regards.

Remarkably good shape, almost no signs of the darkhallow on her skeleton.

Just did my second ever half marathon! And, despite the last one being 5 years, 2 children and a diabetes diagnosis ago, I did it 10 minutes faster! Very chuffed.

My fiancee and I have officially moved to California!

(On the less groovy side, we came down with COVID our first day here and have been cooped up inside for four days since then. So, we have not been able to experience it at all, other than by staring out our window).

I had the really small would in the top of my head. Like a 1 mm scab that wounds heal, it felt like a small bump and it would bleed, scab, bleed again. It was there for ages, over a month. I tried keeping it dry, tried different shampoos nothing worked. I was just about to go see a dermatologist worried it could be a bad symptom of something worse than it seemed.

I’m embarrassed I didn’t think of it sooner, I thought I’d need a prescription for an antibiotic ointment but no it’s over the counter. Used it regularly for 2 days and I’m cautious to see if it will come back but it seems completely healed. The bump feels smaller, almost undetectable, no scab and no bleeding after just 2 days.

Why would you try keeping it dry? Don't wounds heal faster in a moist environment?

Red light therapy can also help accelerate wound healing:
