Burgers, pork, sausage and a hand painted coffee mug.

Dang. I'm nearly finished with my diet, and seeing that made my stomach growl angrily at me...

It was so juicy to. That was one of my best grillings. Tony's, Mrs Dash, & Lea n Perrin squirting out of every bite of burger. The chops were damn near an inch thick after coming off and didn't require a knife at all. Our teeth sliced em with no effort caveman style.

GL with the diet. Stay faithful!

Yeah, stay strong man!

My friend was visiting and we went to a burger place for lunch, but he's on a low-to-no carb diet right now so he had to be choosy. He skimmed the menu and ordered what he thought was like a protein-style burger (essentially all the innards of a burger, but without a bun) because it was called the Manimal, and while the Manimal indeed does not come on a bun, that's because it replaced both the top and bottom with entire grilled-cheese sandwiches. Hilarious disaster and a lesson on skimming.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I got a call from a previous colleague yesterday. He wondered if he could use me as a reference for a job he's applying to. By his telling, my old boss (who was a good boss all around, don't get me wrong) had underestimated how much I was actually doing. Now that I'm gone it's all sort of come crashing down and my colleague figured it was time to look for new places to go.

On one level it's messing with my groove because I worked hard over the last three months to make the transition as smooth as possible for them. I distributed my work load, I held seminars and workshops on the taxes I was responsible for and so on. But at the same time, it feels very good to know my absence is felt so keenly.

Morgy. One of the highest compliments you can receive in the working world is former bosses and coworkers bragging on you to others about how well you transitioned out. The highest is former coworkers leaving because the place fell apart without you.

So true. I'm kinda hoping when I die there's just enough time for a funeral with all the remembrances and accolades (you're all invited of course), and then the world immediately turns into The Road.

I'm turning 30 today. I've had a lot of people send me very warming heartfelt birthday wishes. It just reminds me that I'm surrounded by people that genuinely care. Sometimes it's a struggle to remember that.

So yeah, happy.

Happy belated birthday JPK!

Just come back from a lovely week in Wiltshire involving lots of intrepid history adventures (pretty standard holiday in our house). Seen Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals (the former also housing one of four remaining original copies of the Magna Carta - inner history nerd pretty much exploded) and saw some fabulous countryside (I really recommend Stourhead if anyone is ever down that way).

Favourite thing was definitely Old Wardour Castle - you drive for miles down long windy single track country roads with endless signs stating "1 mile" (we think it's about eight miles from the first one mile sign!), and just around the point you think of turning back before you're murdered you turn a corner to this view:
