Morgy. One of the highest compliments you can receive in the working world is former bosses and coworkers bragging on you to others about how well you transitioned out. The highest is former coworkers leaving because the place fell apart without you.

So true. I'm kinda hoping when I die there's just enough time for a funeral with all the remembrances and accolades (you're all invited of course), and then the world immediately turns into The Road.

I'm turning 30 today. I've had a lot of people send me very warming heartfelt birthday wishes. It just reminds me that I'm surrounded by people that genuinely care. Sometimes it's a struggle to remember that.

So yeah, happy.

Congratulations on yet another trip around the big yellow hot thing. May the next one have plenty of fun things for you.

Happy belated birthday JPK!

Just come back from a lovely week in Wiltshire involving lots of intrepid history adventures (pretty standard holiday in our house). Seen Salisbury and Winchester Cathedrals (the former also housing one of four remaining original copies of the Magna Carta - inner history nerd pretty much exploded) and saw some fabulous countryside (I really recommend Stourhead if anyone is ever down that way).

Favourite thing was definitely Old Wardour Castle - you drive for miles down long windy single track country roads with endless signs stating "1 mile" (we think it's about eight miles from the first one mile sign!), and just around the point you think of turning back before you're murdered you turn a corner to this view:

I had one of them there epiphany things today. The difference between 'knowing' and BELIEVING something.
I am not my father. and. I am a nice person.
Yes, I've been told that and told and told. But today I believe it.

I'm starting to figure out my new job. Somewhat. I'm still hopelessly lost most of the time, but I've started to experience the occasional burst of competence interspersed between all the confusion.

My better half had her baby shower on the weekend, and we got crazy spoiled by all involved with baby gear!

Feeling better. I didn't fuck up as badly as I thought at work. I still hate it here, but I don't expect to get fired any time soon.
