Finished a 3,500 word essay three days early. Woo!

6 years of the place and I still couldn't do it. That thing you did there is witchcraft. No other way to explain it.

This is going to be the biggest gloat ever and particularly self-indulgent considering Messremb's bad news above (hope he's ok!) but...... My resignation from work last week should have been the start of a 3 month notice period but they are letting me go on 25th October with 3 months full pay up front instead. It is mainly because of all the trouble I've been involved in, they want me out the door quietly but it is pretty much the best thing that has ever happened. I had 1 months gardening leave at my last place and I thought I'd never get a better month off as usually when you have lots of spare time, you don't have any money. Now I won't have to work until next January!! And I've got a new house and garden that need sorting out so it is pretty much the most perfect thing ever. All those migraines and statements to lawyers have been totally worth it, I keep needing to pinch myself to be sure it's true.

I made socks. *hugs uber-small-gauge knitting needles* And just turned the heel on my next pair.

And they are stripy.

I agree! I don't often win stuff. Maybe it's a good time to get the old lotto ticket that's still floating around my wallet checked.

My daughter won a kindle today for reading the most minutes over the summer. This is the second time she's won. She's in elementary school (kindergarten through 6th grade). She won the first time during the summer before first grade and again the summer before 3rd grade (she came in 2nd last year).

This probably doesn't sound particularly impressive unless you consider that she read more than any other student in the entire school, not just the 3rd grade.

I am very proud of her

That's fantastic. All I won for reading in elementary school was personal pizzas from Pizza Hut. Book It!

I won having to walk into a class of ten year olds to grab the books they were reading since I'd read the rest. I was seven. The horror.

Also I'm probably not going to be fired after Christmas! Woooooooooo
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

We had the same program in my school. They had to impose limits after a while
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

I was so stunned I forgot to mention this yesterday.

new FIFA rankings came in, and Ukraine took 20th spot. Which was enough to edge out France by 1(!) point to become the 4th seeded team for the World Cup qualifiers UEFA playoffs draw.

This means our chances to make it to the finals have gone up exponentially--we can potentially draw 2 very beatable teams (Iceland + Romania), or Sweden where we got about 40-60 chances, which still isn't bad (considering how many goals Swedes have been letting in lately) Only almost certainly bad pairing would be France.

so, yeah, even a day later, I'm still pretty damn stoked about that.
