Deadline's gone.

Heehee, seems I have no right to post in 3.0 about extensions, as we have one ourselves :no
Will post the topic if it takes the offender slowpoke person in question (kill him, kill him!) less than 90 min to compose orders, will postpone till tomorrow if he doesn't.

For anyone who has submitted moves already: I won't accept changes, this is a pure emergency.

Have we not got to the stage now where people learn to put in provisionals if there's any chance they might not put in real orders? Seriously?

I suggest a new rule - each person only gets a limited number of extensions to a deadline. Say, four... If you're late, there is an extension, but you lose a strike. Once you've hit four, you no longer get extensions unless clearly asked for beforehand with a good reason.

Sounds like a plan, but to be introduced at spring 2002, I'd say, so people can adjust themselves to it.

However, something else has come to my attention: I can't count. Mistook one provisional for the required number of submissions, instead of looking at the name. We lack input from another player, too, and I doubt he'll respond fast. So, I'll postpone till tomorrow 10 PM or until that person sends his moves in, he has been PMed.

Next deadline will be Friday as usual for the Fall turn.

Why do they need time to adjust? The four moves they can get away with before running out of chances is surely enough time?

Personally, I'd make it two or three, but I'm impatient and get easily angered by people who fuck the rest of us around by continuously taking the piss like this.

Sigh, who is it this time?

I say they forfeit all their territories to someone. Someone purple, say.

It was DiBs first, who then turned in within 10 minutes of asking for a short duration extension. He's been setting up and modding a Mafia game.
Then I noticed that Gavin hadn't submitted. We all know he's dealing with a financial crisis, so I decided to be lenient. Haven't received anything yet.

Seriously, 48 hour deadline for one retreat, which doesn't even really have options to decide between, unless he feels like a stab? Eesh :p Get it done in a day and have done with it.

Oh, and deadline being 48 hours is for it being convenient for resolution, with standard days. I have little wish to have different days for deadlines each game turn. Call me a lazy conservative, but if people regularly miss 3 day deadlines at fixed days (Tuesdays and Fridays), I have little faith in play actually speeding up when the fixed days become flexible times to speed up.

3.5 hours till deadline. I have orders from England, Egypt, Italy, Spain, Ukraine, Russia.

Poland and France missing. Seeing how the forum has been (unexpectedly) down for quite a few hours (10+) and this may have gone straight through Gavin's workday, I'm now going to ask who is opposed to an extension by 18 hours, free of strikes, should one or both be unable to submit?

Also, I have received a question whether or not orders can be submitted with an 'if' scenario, the 'if' being when a player misses the deadline.

For example: A Mun S France's A Burgundy - Ruhr

if France is not around, A Mun - Ruhr

I've just decided that the answer is No, despite the doubt I had on the issue in my PM to the player asking that.
The game would become an opportunistic landgrab rather rapidly, not to mention that the amount of provisionals would be through the roof, especially for central powers who border everyone.

My orders are in, and somewhat obviously i'm against an extension as france will probably attack me :p

cant have conditionals, we could say if brood attacks there make everyone defend it.

this will be gavs second miss in a row, is it an actual miss or has he given up???

I don't think the conditional comparison is quite valid, because saying "defend here if x attacks" is not the same as "if my ally/enemy has failed to submit a turn, I have a backup plan." But I can see why Tapper doesn't want people doing it...

Sir Thursday
Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Who asked that? Definitely not!

I hate extensions, but this is actually a valid reason I suppose :p
