Reconsidering?? SPOILERS

"Son of Darkness, I have reconsidered"
Anyone have any idea exactly what Hood had (or was attempting to) reconsider?
He certainly appears to be part of the 'grand plan' regard Dragnipur, but I thought it was an interesting greeting nonetheless.
Was it a last minute change of mind? Or is it possible that this plan has been suggested to him previously, and he thought better of the idea.
Of course it could simply have no significance whatsoever

It seems the plan was for things to go exactly as they did, but Hood's words just signify some last minute cold feet about whether it would work.
Hood's saying "He sticks to his word" or somesuch to Draconus about Rake would certainly suggest this.

Yeah, that was what I initially took, but thought that some alternate interpretations might be interesting.
Oh, and cold feet, nice one.

Oh come on here, people. This was Eriksonian humor at its finest.

I think he was just jazzed about drinking up all the dead souls pouring in from the destruction of Darujhistan....so, maybe he thought twice about retiring. Rake wasn't having any waffling.

Hoods reaction to finding himself in the Sword doesn' suggest he was reconsidering the plan from a personal perspective. I wondered later if it was something to do with Rake having to die. But my gut feeling is that it was just Erikson toying with us.

Yeah, that's exactly what got me wondering.

Maybe it was just the opposite, that Hood had been saying no, he did not want to be part of the plan, so and when he said he reconsidered, Rake understood he did want to be part of the plan, and 'did it quick' so Hood wouldn't suffer?

I think it's safe to say it was just Cold Feet. Not serious ones, and they were certainly dispelled as soon as he got into the sword itself. Not too suprising, all things considered.

I think it was cold feet too... kind of funny.
On an aside - will we ever find out what Hood wanted from Paran now that he's gone?

Hood's as gone as Draconus is. We'll find out.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'm thinking it's like that what Hood wanted from Paran was something to do with his army who followed him into the sword. After all, before the end of TtH, Paran was the only person we know of to have been into Dragnipur without being killed by it. Blazed a path, as you will.

That makes sense Brood... plus Paran had just met Hedge and Co... Or was that after?
Did Hood ask Paran to get Raraku to give up its dead or some such?

After. This was when Paran was in charge of the Host, and the jade statues were falling.

I have always been one of the strongest opponents of the Hood wants a wife debate but I have a vague memory of the Second saying to him something about 'marrying that bony hag' or soemthing?? Or did I dream it.
Also, I'm sure Hood called the Second his Knight and asked about Baudin the Soldier, shouldn't it be the other way round, the second as the Soldier of Death and Baudin the Knight????
