Dont call it a comeback!
Seems i'll probably have to go back to not rooting for Favre again. It was kind of nice last year.
Remember when he broke Dan Morgans leg with a stiffarm? "sigh"

Morgan broke his leg during his rookie year, the result of a stiff arm by Brett Favre.

So, it's come down to if his arm is good to go in a few weeks or not. I hope it happens. If he comes back and does well, great, another season of classic Favreian action. If he comes back and does poorly, it'll screw the Vikings over, and that makes me smile.

Seems like the press is sure he will be playing for the Vikings this year if his arm is strong enough after the surgery. They are not doubting it anymore in the last several posts i have seen.

He's bought a condo in Minnesota and the doctor the Vikings just sent to Mississippi to check on his arm reportedly said that the surgery was a complete success. Looks like we've got one more year. If nothing else, it will make his consecutive games record more difficult to break.
I can't believe I'm going to be rooting for the fucking Vikings this year.
And the Packers. Hmmm.
This raises the horrible question of who I will root for when they play each other.

Quarterback Brett Favre has decided to stay retired and not join the Minnesota Vikings this season, he told NFL Network's Rich Eisen in a text message Tuesday.
Vikings coach Brad Childress also confirmed to The Associated Press in a text message that Favre wouldn't join his team when training camp opens later this week. Favre's decision was first reported by The Star Tribune on its Web site.
Brett Favre, QB
Career Statistics
Seasons: 18
Passing Yards: 65,127
TDs/INTs: 464/310
Passer Rating: 85.4
Childress told the Minneapolis newspaper that Favre didn't want to put himself through the grind of a 19th NFL season. Favre himself didn't immediately offer a comment from Hattiesburg, Miss., where he worked out with high school players this summer in a bid to keep in shape for a potential return.
"It was a rare and unique opportunity to consider adding not only a future Hall of Fame quarterback but one that is very familiar with our system and division," Childress said in a statement on the Vikings' Web site. "That does not detract from the team that we have."
Favre's decision is a crushing blow for the Vikings, who openly courted the quarterback all summer. Adding Favre would have been viewed by many as the final piece for a team that already has star running back Adrian Peterson and a stingy veteran defense that returns nearly intact from an NFC North championship season.
Favre came out of retirement last year to play for the New York Jets. He retired again after the season, had surgery in May to alleviate a torn biceps tendon and then openly flirted with the idea of coming back again with the Vikings, the Green Bay Packers' NFC North rivals. Favre spent 17 seasons in Green Bay.
But after two months of rehabilitation, Favre told Childress he didn't believe he had enough in him to get through a full season.
Now Childress has some damage control to do with Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels, the two veterans who were expected to compete for the job before the Favre drama began for a second straight year.
Jackson and Rosenfels were peppered with questions about Favre during the team's minicamps this summer. It already was a testy situation for them to deal with, and now they likely will face a whole new set of inquiries with the job up for grabs all over again.

Favre's decision comes at the 11th hour. Vikings players will begin arriving in Mankato for training camp Wednesday, with a mandatory reporting day of Thursday and the first practice Friday.
Now it's back to square one, although Childress has said he believes the Vikings will be good with or without Favre.
"As we have consistently communicated, we feel good about our team and they have put forth a tremendous effort this offseason preparing for the season ahead," Childress said. "With this behind us, we look forward to getting to Mankato and getting training camp under way."

I'm sad. I wanted one more year. Although he said he's going to continue working out and throwing, so maybe some team will have a hurt QB and grab him mid-season.

I am so unhappy.
ESPN (was on at lunch) was showing a comparison for last year of Favre VS Viking QBs. They both had 22 TD passes, and Favre had 22 INT while Vikings QBs had 17 INT.
HE IS WORSE THAN OUR CURRENT TERRIBLE QUARTERBACKS. DON'T DO IT YOU EMOTIONLESS BALD SHELL, DON'T SIGN HIM!

I love it. Might actually make the Vikings an exciting team to watch this year, instead of the almost-contenders they've become recently. We had the defense, we had the running game, we just needed a quarterback who at the very least could threaten to throw the ball downfield. Favre brings that and then some.
Not to say that he's a long-term solution--of course he isn't. But then, neither is Jackson or Rosenfels. (Though I do feel sorry for those guys for having been strung along all preseason like this.)

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I threw up in my mouth a bit. Sorry, Ray, I'm actively cheering against Bret and the Vikings this year now.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
