They should have gone for one of the Pat's QB's.

But our bald moron of a coach decided that he wants to have football spice be our QB.

Hate the media, not Favre. He just wants to play football. Let him. If it has to be for the stinking Vikings, so be it.

And about how he played poorly at the end of last year...The man had a ruptured tendon in his throwing arm. Think that might affect your performance as a QB a bit. /fanboyrant

I suppose this is justification for the past COUPLE of years he's been sucking? Must I remind you of his game against the Giant's for the Superbowl game against the Pats and he threw the interception that lost GB the chance? Come on now! I love GB, Favre used to be a badass, now his time has passed. Move on I say! :p

Yeah, I remember that interception. It ended a 13-3 season. What an embarrassment. I know any time I see a QB go 13-3 it's surely a sign that he needs to hang it up. Ok, being sarcastic, but my point is that 2 seasons ago isn't really relevant in discussing his decline, as it was a great season, up to that one pass.

So if we eliminate that season, we're left with last season to find evidence he has been sucking for the past two years. Hmmmm. By week 12 they were 9-3. Favre statistically had one of his best games ever. Then, the last 5 games they went 1-4 and missed the playoffs. Let's see here. What could have been going on those last 5 weeks to make them (including favre) play so badly. Oh, I remember something about an injury...to one of their keys players...something about, what was it now, oh yes, FAVRE HAD A FREAKING RUPTURED TENDON IN HIS THROWING ARM!!!!!

So, not counting when they were dominating for an entire season, and not counting when Favre was leading a soft Jets team to a 9-3 record, and not counting when he was playing through a bad injury, when exactly did he suck in the last two years? There was that one pass, true enough.

I mean, I'll give it to you that the man is not on the top of his game. He's old. Even from the depths of my fanboydom, I won't try to tell you that he's the best QB in the league. However, he's far from the worst, and still better than a lot of them, including any of the assholes at Minnesota. That's really all that matters. He doesn't have to be the best to be valuable in the NFL. He only has to better than any of the other QBs a team has in order to make that individual team better. That would be the Vikings. Go ahead, try to justify why you would rather have Tavaris Jackson or whatever his name is instead of Favre.

Now that's just plain ignorant to say that the 13-3 season was based solely off Favre's contributions (Don't get me wrong, of course the skill of the QB plays a huge role, but without his o-line he's nothing). Okay, I'll take into consideration his ruptured tendon, sure. So explain to me how he still manages (With and without said injury) an astronomically high amount of interceptions? Not just leading the league in some instances, but in his career overall. I mean shit, by the end of 2007 he had thrown 288 (First in all time?), granted he did throw 442 TD passes. He led the league in picks thrown in two separate seasons, and has tossed at least 20 interceptions in five different seasons.

Don't get me wrong, I think he used to be amazing. Now it's getting to the point where he's bleeding out and losing it. On a progressive level, he's getting worse.

Personally, just to see Favre smashed by Minnesota's 'rival' team, I'd like him to play for the Vikings. I mean, Favre was a douche, he apparantly 'retired', then went to play for the Jets and now possibily the Viking's? Hopefully he'll do it, then get mauled by the Packers and Rodgers. On another note, hell yeah of course Favre would be better for Minnesota. But I hate the Viking's, so I'd rather see them without a decent QB.

I'm not claiming that he is solely responsible for the 13-3 season. I think he can claim enough credit for it for it to be a little silly to hold that season up as an example of how Favre sucks so bad. Teams with sucky QBs do not go 13-3. About the interceptions. He throws a lot of them. It's his flaw, he thinks he can make every play. He threw a lot of interceptions when he won a superbowl, he threw a lot going 3 time mvp. He still throws a lot. A lot of those across his career can be attributed to the Packers being weak, and he was frequently trying to make plays to come from behind. The rest can be chalked up to bad decisions. Like I said, I never said he was perfect. When thinking about his interception record, keep it n context of his other records.

Here's an interesting article.

I realize I'm laying it on a llittle thick in defending him, but Jesus, you people act personally offended that he's playing, like he's doing it just to piss you off. And he took the job from your dad. And slept with your mom, and kicked your dog on the way out.

Where's the hatred for Kurt Warner? He took a long time afer the season to decide if he was coming back. The media and unwashed masses left him alone. It's not Favre's fault the media can't stop talking about him.

I'm about done with this conversation I think. I don't have much more to say. All he wants to do is play football. If there's people who would like to see that, and a team that wants him, he should play football regardless of what we think. Brett favre does not owe it to you to retire just because you're tired of hearing about him.

I think the thing is that Farve has said twice he wants to retire, then recants after teams SHOULD have their starters all straightened out.

Did Warner do that? I don't think so, but I haven't been following much of anything in sports recently so I cannot be sure.

No, Warner didn't do that. But then, he was told to take as long as he wanted to make the decision, and the media completely left him alone about it. There was no pressure for him to make the decision. On a side note, what Warner DID do was contemplate retiring in the middle of the season. Granted he had good reasons, and the media storm was not his fault (hmmmm, that seems to happen a lot) but it did happen. He was going to retire, decided not to, finished the season, then said he needed time to figure out what he wanted to do. Nearly as wishy-washy as Favre, but he got a free pass.

Look, what happened with Favre and the Packers was unpleasant, and blame can be fairly assigned to both sides. Favre did not do things perfectly. But still, can you blame him that much? All the guy did was change his mind about playing ball. There was some flip-flopping, but I can't say I blame him. At the end of the season, being a 39 year old guy he's tired and burnt out. After he has time to mentally and physically recover, he decides he wants to play again.

Anyways, my point is that if Favre ever held a team hostage, it was the Packers. His indecision was not the best thing for the team. But that was in the past. This time is without a doubt different. No one is being held hostage. The Jets are perfectly heppy with how their relationship with Favre ended. It is a little annoying to go through the whole retire/unretire saga again, but my gut tells me this was never a real retirement. It was a ploy to allow him to get to the Vikings without the Jets losing thier first round picks to the Packers for the next 20 years.

Seriously, can you imagine, getting paid to play football for a living? How amazing that would be. Then, your 40 and its time to quit, but no, if you do you cant play the sport you love again for the rest of your life.
I'd have a hard time letting go too.

And the dude can still play!
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

It would have been fun to have one more year, but oh well. Probably (but not surely) for the best.

I'd love to see that, he could be this season's Brady, first play and out.

Although I'd rather see Brady hurt. How I love watching him get sacked and planted on his backside. :p

Hahaha I'm with you there. Although he is a phenomenal QB. Brady that is.

Oh man, I hope Favre does come back and gets laid out so God damned hard he's done for the season. That would be friggin GREAT.

Uh oh. Reports of Favre recovering from shoulder surgery, working out with local high schools, and a non-committal head coach. We might have a comeback!
