Hmm wouldn't that be the damnest thing if Tay started working against Shadow and Cots and ST?
They would be epic enemies.

Damn!
Foiled again!
I meant that corporal guy that shows up a few times in NoK and GoTM... and later recruits Sorry into the BBs (iffy on that last part)

Impressive memory.
It is indeed Aragan who enrolls her, as Staff Sergeant, not corporal, to be precise: page 32, GotM paperback:
However, everyone in those buildings is killed when Paran visits there. I guess Aragan is one lucky fellow to have escaped that.

"GotM, on page 32", said:
'Sorry. My name is Sorry.'
Aragan jotted the name down on his tablet. 'Dismissed, soldier. The corporal will tell you where to go.'

Are you referring to the town that paran visits trying to find out who lived in Apsalars house? That wasn't the same town were Sorry was recruited. The two towns were quite a ways away from one another if I remember right.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

You are right.
It is indeed far away from Apsalar's village - Aragan notices a different colour of mud on her shoes (red instead of the local grey-green), hinting at travel through the warrens.

Ok I found this:
Name: Aragan
Pseudonyms: none
Age: unknown
Race: human, unknown ethnicity (a Malazan)
Appearance:
Further Info: frequently recurring character, noted for his extremely rapid career promotions and ability to be in the right place at the right time. Suffers from headaches in the presence of power. At first, a recruiting Staff Sergeant - later a Captain and an Ambassador.

And oh Apty - Tayschrenn was Artanthos in MOI...

Well, could Tays control the Hounds of Light for D'rek? Or even at all? He does use High Thyr...
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Ok my take on the hounds. I think the hounds are the result of someone atempting to controlling, enslaving perhaps, an element. The hounds are the personification of this servitude, but as Tulas shorn says, and for that matter is mentioned in GotM, the hounds cannot be chained. So, the hounds represent temporary control of an element that is by its very nature, uncontrolable.
There are no hounds of fire because the Imass never pretended to control Tellan. There are no hounds of Death because though Hood was the lord of death he did not control death, he merely... watched over it.
Of course, I might be completly off the mark

Telas, Thyr, they all blur together eventually. Let's not even go into Meanas/Rashan.

Yes, but he was also Arthan... or something in NoK. I think that why I connected him with Aragan.

Nice idea but ST hasnt claimed the shadow throne and theres still Hounds of Shadow. Theres Hounds of Darkness when Rake didnt claim the throne/Hold/Godhood although this could be explained as they were just the Deragoth. Theres Hounds of Light but we dont know whos holding light at the moment after GreyFrogs predeccessors death. Maybe Loric or osserc has come back to claim his throne and wanted Dragnipur.
Illy- Yeh they do but pedantic...

and don't forget there were already hounds of shadow before the dynamic duo tried to take shadow in NoK.
also i think that the deragoth are the hounds of darkness in the sense that they prob existed when there was only darkness, before the coming of light.

I'm not sure I believe that. I have a feeling the planet Burn existed long before Mother Dark created Kurald Galain and Father Light was born like a sun. I think Father Light/the sun in KG is a different sun from the one that gives light to Burn.

On the one hand, the fact that the hounds of light have a master, indicates a conspiracy of some kind putting them with the hounds of shadow. Not simply a manifestation of forces, but intent.
On the other, Tulas Shorn indiates that they are in fact manifestations.
So Im thinking, the hounds of shadow are something Shorn made. He tried to exercise control over shadow, and learning from the deragoth(which i seem to remember he took some responsibility for), he made KE manifest itself in the hounds. After all, he was such a lover of animals..
Now, if he learned from this the danger of trying to control something uncontrollable by nature, this would explain his horror upon seeing the lighthounds. He realizes that someone else has done the same thing he did.
Thus, manifestation of natural forces, and conspiracy all rolled into one.
This would indicate Osserc being capable of creating the lighthounds. Him or other prominent liosan.
After all, since there are quite a few "old powers" among both the edur and the andii, not just scabandari and anomander, then you'd think osserc was not the only one among the loisan...

Didn't SE once say that there weren't any Hounds of Light? Might be my memory acting up.....
Tulas Shorn was originally mentioned in a mafia game....we got a new alt. Long before TTH was released.

The hounds seemed to appear from bolts of lightning, why? they did not appear to be using thyr or the liosan's warren so what were they using? is there a link between them and the entity that seems to be imprisoned in the moon? as the moon only fractures as they are arriving.
