Sorry, but did you really not know this? Thought it was common knowledge. Werner Von Braun and all that?

On a vaguely related note, check out Werner's proposal for the manned mission to Mars. Fascinating stuff.

Indeed I did not, my head was likely up my ass though. It's one of those things that when I learned it I thought "Fuck me, how did I NOT know that?" LOL

Are Canadians sick of hearing that yet? It's been like 13 years.

It's still a fairly big claim to fame. That and Kevin Smith's bizarre obsession with us.

They get quite sick of it, but then they just use their great healthcare system and feel better.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I've been cracking out on TrueBlood with the wife. It's bad and trashy in so many ways, but dammit it's compelling. Once that's done we will finish up Mad Men, then who knows what. It's a shame she won't watch Breaking Bad, due to the depressingness of it all.

I just heard Weeds is done after season 8. It's time, I think. While the show has remained consistently entertaining, it never got back to how good it was in the first two seasons. Also, Nancy has become almost unwatchable she is such an unlikable character. Wrap it up, call it good, shut it down.

Brilliant idea for a weekly drama.

Take the ANCIENT ALIENS concept and make a fictional drama show about these early biblical-era or pre-biblical-era human societies and show how they really WERE helped by aliens they thought were gods, angels, demons and monsters and tie in all the different mythologies ect.

Rake in cash!

I was thinking about this the other day, and I would watch the hell out of that show.

Hell yeah! With the right writing team and showrunners, you could make that show awesome, for not a lot of money.

Is anyone else watching the new Showcase show CONTINUUM? Damn! Much, much better than I thought it was going to be so far.

For lack of decent thought-provoked sci-fi on the air, this is pretty good. Only 4 eps in so far to the season but some interesting things going on already...and it's quite smart for a time-travel cop show.

It's funny to see so many sci-fi show familiar faces on the show, but it's shaping up much better than i thought.

I'm not sold on the lead actress though, and I don't think she can carry a series on her own. It's gonna need some very clever plotting or great side characters to survive. But as you said, the pickings are kinda slim at the moment, so until my favourite shows return, i'll give it a go.

Yeah, I've been enjoying it from the other side of the pond. As you say, there's not much competition in the sci-fi space at the minute, but I feel like so far they've done a good job of progressing the story while nevertheless having a strong narrative arc to each episode. Manages to walk the fine line between overarching plot and monster of the week quite nicely, I feel. I like the futurescape they've invented, and Kellogg is shaping up to be a decent character. Kiera's OK, but her police side-kick really is as bland as it's possible to be. Hopefully they can squeeze in some development there.

I'd hold off on calling it a 'smart' show until they actually have a go at coming up with a coherent paradox resolution strategy. IMO that's the test of anything involving time travel, because if they can't get that at least plausible then they're in plothole city.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

Try this webcomic then:

But that show would never get made. Well, not in America anyway. It would sort of be at odds with their whole national mania about "Gawd-ah". Greenlighting that show would be career suicide.
