To be clear, the reviews HERE are encouraging... it's the comments elsenet that keep reminding me the show is marketing itself as 'Ooo! Look! Snow White with a Sword!!! We clever!!!!'.
But i will likely check it out sooner or later.

I saw it over at IMDB. I'd rate it at a pretty solid A minus for a first episode. Jennifer Morrison is way more fun to watch here than she ever was on House, the characters seem actually very well cast - although I felt like Ginnifer Goodwin had some weak moments - and the storylines can be very diverse with they way they've set at least three different overarching plots within the first episode alone.
You can tell at moments that this is a TV show and not a movie, but I really did like it. Brisk pace, intriguing set-up and some fine actors. I usually give first episodes some leeway, as shows tend to take a bit to find their exact voice and fire on all cylinders, but this seems good from the get-go. Hopefully the next few episodes are similar.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Well, we're finally starting TERRA NOVA. Saw the first 1/2 of the pilot.
They certainly spared no expense on the FX.
I thought the whole prison bit was kind of stupid and unnecessary. No purpose other than to give the pilot some action scenes. And they were right to want some action scenes to hook the audience, but I think they could have thought of something better.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

You may have already seen it, or you may ignore this altogether, but nether the less i simply must recomend this film
SUPER (2010)
96 min - Action | Comedy | Drama
After his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.
Director: James Gunn
Writer: James Gunn
Stars:Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page and Liv Tyler
like all the best films i didnt have high expectations but by the end i felt like watching it all over again. by the way i wouldnt call it a comedy........tragi comedey maybe.

ONCE UPON A TIME was better than i expected. Predictable, flat at times, but the overarching plot has potential and the performances weren't bad at all. The ep 2 scene between the 2 queens was great fun. Will stick around for a bit.
GRIMM was surprisingly ALSO better than expected. Admittedly i liked it better when it was called BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, but even so and predictable as it was, it held my attention well enough.
Both shows are doing solid ratings digits, so we may actually see both stick around at least for the season.
PERSONS OF INTEREST is getting WAY better. The ep with the fixer was kind of fun and the b-plot is starting to develop.

My brother is totally into Terra Nova and Homeland now.
Also a show called "2 Broke Girls"
I haven't come around yet to watch any episodes yet so I can't say anything about what I think of them.
Edit, added link to 2 Broke Girls, the clip seems quite funny.

Two Broke Girls is, "ehhh." Very formulaic sit-com. I've watched some of it and it's not bad, but it's so formulaic it isn't near appointment t.v.
Homeland is something I'd like to give a go, but will have to do so later, as I'm sans Showtime here.
My appointment t.v. is: Modern Family on Wed; Community, Parks and Rec, The Office, break for snack, then Always Sunny on Thursday. I need to find something on Monday and Tuesday. HIMYM jumped the shark a while ago on Monday, they need to move BBT back.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I usually look for web downloads to supply my brother with things that he can watch while he has to wait for the unloading of his truck etc.
Homeland and Terra Nova were mentioned here on the forum and 2 Broke girls was something I just stumbled upon.
He isn't a big reader so this is another nice solution.

I'm not saying it's unfunny. It's just traditional funny, you know? Laugh-track, one-liners, obvious set-ups and scenarios.
Comedy is something you like if you like. I'd recommend Community, Parks and Rec, and Always Sunny to any and everyone. Funny and unique story-telling outside the traditional sit-com. Modern Family is closer to the main-stream, but it is blessedly absent a laugh-track, which allows them to stack funny lines one after another. It's brilliant writing and acting is its foundation.

Been watching Happy Endings right after Modern Family on Wednesdays.
I'd give it an above average. Its comedy is somewhere in between MF and HIMYM without being as good as either.
But one of the main characters is Damon Wayans Jr........JR!!!
Dear lord that makes me feel old. Used to watch his dad on In Living Color when i was growing up.
Homey dont play dat!!!

AMC starts airing Hell on Wheels this Sunday (Nov. 7) - airs after The Walking Dead. AMC has a pretty solid track record, so I am pretty jazzed about this one.

Nobody has mentioned Suburgatory yet, it seems, so I'll share my thoughts. I've liked it so far. After the pilot, which was solid, there was a definite dip in quality for a few eps, but the past two marked an upswing. It's finding its legs, I think. It's nowhere near as good as Mean Girls, so it's closer to say Easy A in terms of being funny but not quite sharp enough. But the cast is pretty universally excellent (Alan Tudyk and Cheryl Hines especially, plus it's great to see Randy from The Wire), so a lot of the performances make up for the hit-and-miss writing. The two leads are awesome. And after years of seeing Jeremy Sisto only as Billy from Six Feet Under, and therefore being creeped out whenever I saw him, I now officially see him as a real human being.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Just watched the most recent episode of THE MENTALIST, which i must admit is something of a guilty pleasure. Anyway, it was a really great episode (about an investigation into another serial killer), with a cool denouement. I like the way the show is both light and easy to watch while having a pretty sinister undercurrent. Looking forward to seeing how they proceed from here.
Also finding myself strangely into PERSON OF INTEREST, despite the wooden acting of "Gun_jesus" (as others on this board have dubbed him). I guess i just enjoy seeing bad people get their comeuppance.
Cheers for the link above to HELL ON WHEELS. I've been impressed with several shows on AMC, so I'll be sure to give that a shot.

3 episodes in and ONCE UPON A TIME is still quite good, and last night's ep had some interesting developments. I REALLY like the fact that Prince Charming DOES have a name and he's called that as a mockery by Snow initially. Very cool. Oh and Sark from ALIAS scoping out present earth Red Riding Hood's scantily clad ass while on a date with Mary Margaret (present earth's Snow White) = Priceless. Practical makeup on the Trolls was really well done, even if the fairy dust special effect in that scene was typically TV-quality.
It was nice to see Maleficent show up in Ep 2 and nice that she is evil queen's sister (of course). I'm very interested that Rumple seems to be more powerful than both witches combined to have sold Evil Queen the cataclysm spell...but I can't help thinking there is an even darker baddie just beyond the curtain. Still, Robby Carlyle chews up every scene he is in, in both lands.
Looking fwd to next ep with Cinderella showing up, and I've heard tell that Belle is going to be popping in, which hopefully means the Beast will at some point too.
I'm quite interested in the interpersonal relationships that went on in Fairytale land, the flashbackery and whatnot is well done and in some ways is even better than the present earth stuff.
Also noted: It is still performing very well for ABC better than any other new drama in the ratings, and they quietly picked it up for a full season order.

FRINGE was up a bit this week, 1.3 or 1.4 i think from 1.2 last new episode, but FRINGE is lower budget and on Frinite and expectations are way lower. FRINGE can (might) survive with a consistent 1.2 on Frinite right through this season and even get a fifth season. If i was going to be nervous about anything for FRINGE it's that GRIMM is hitting 1.8 in the same slot, albeit stil early days to see if GRIMM has any staying power. (the other competing genre offering SUPERNATURAL, gets about 0.6-0.8 at that slot).
TERRA is big bucks to produce and runs on Monday night which is as prime as prime time gets, so expectations are way way higher and the penalty for failure isdeath by dinosaur attack cancellation.

Finally watched the premiere of ONCE UPON A TIME. Good, not great, but good enough to keep me around for a few more eps.
Racking up recordings of GRIMM and PERSON OF INTEREST, still never watched any.
Also recording AMERICAN HORROR STORY. Doesn't quite look like my thing, but has anyone else seen? What did you think?
