I am somewhat thrown by the pacing of the hedge knight. The climax will be episode five and no idea what the will fill episode six with. They also glossed over the tourney itself so I dont think the second Humphreys name has even been spoken aloud.

I hadn't realised that the new season of Shrinking was coming out while I currently have Apple TV and honestly it's one of the best shows out there I truly love it.

100%. Been waiting for the wife and I to both have time and we’re starting season 3 tonight!

It’s a thing!

He said his character is 70% Humphrey Bogart and 30% Bugs Bunny. Or something like that.

Well considering it says video unavailable in going to go with it's not a thing.

Watched the first episode of Small Prophets the other night - it's Mackenzie Crook's new show, and all chatter I've seen and the first episode itself would suggest anyone who enjoyed Detectorists is going to enjoy this too. Pearce Quigley (Russell from Detectorists) is the lead and Michael Palin as his dad is an absolute treasure already.

I remember reading about it a few months back and by the second line of the article I was sold! I'll definitely be watching.

That video might be unavailable, but Spider Noir, a spinoff of Into the Spider Verse is 100% a thing.

OK ta. Funny, why would a video be unavailable by YouTube in the USA and working for me in Oz? Normally it's the other way round.

It's working for me in the USA... is it really not working in Illinois?

Watched two more Brit show...PLEBS, which is a sitcom taking place in Ancient Rome and concerning plebs (and their bowl-cutted slave) trying to get laid and be important...really good. Goofy as hell and not realistic, but fun.

And FRESH MEAT, which feels like the unholy union of THE INBETWEENERS and PEEP SHOW....and frankly, since it stars Joe Thomas acting pretty much like he did in THE INBETWEENERS, it could just be Simon's years at Uni to be honest. Love this show. Hilarious, and the cast is wonderful.

Watched the first two episodes of this now and it's a delight! Unexpectedly a bit heavier than Detectorists but still has a great core of the slightly off beat ("Have you had your break yet?") I do enjoy an odd friendship story.

Ah I'm glad you liked it - we finished it at the weekend, it's all thoroughly lovely!

Mr NAB reluctantly showed me the first ep of Plebs when we were on holiday a few years ago - I usually don't like things that are a bit icky and crude so he expected me to hate it.

Ended up loving it (though even I can't explain why considering my usual tendencies). Grumio steals every scene he's in - "Alright, landlord?" :D

I waited for "Salve Grumio" every episode, and I'm glad they kept brining the Landlord back (who it took me WAY too long to realize was played by Karl Theobald who played Martin on GREEN WING), and yeah Grumio is easily the best thing about the show. I have yet to see the finale movie (SOLDIERS OF ROME) as I can't find it streaming or purchasable, but I want to watch.

I also think Jason started out meh, but came into his own about a season into his tenure as Stylax's replacement. Oh, and have loved Lydia Rose Bewley since INBETWEENERS movie, so she was a welcome bonus in the first two seasons.

I'm definitely keeping my eye out for it now. I heard it was a lovely send off for the characters. I need that closure.

Sigh. I have feelings...

I freely admit I'm an Austen snob, BUT I love the 2005 adaptation which is full of anachronisms, so I'm a very forgiving Austen snob.

That said, the main thing Austen is known for is her dialogue...and Netflix, or Euros Lyn or someone decided to showcase NONE of it in the teaser and got for "vibes"...which in another project might work, but here I'm like no. SOME of the cinematography is fine, but most of it is grim and dismal and over cast...everything felt drab.

I didn't like Emma Corrin when she was announced, and nothing has changed, I don't think she looks good as Lizzie here and I think she was a horrid choice.

And I haven't the foggiest clue how they managed to make Jack Lowden (who at times on SLOW HORSES evokes a young James Bond) look ugly, but they managed it?

Now, there are choices for this production I like (Rupert Everett and Olivia Coleman as Mr. and Mrs. Bennet respectively and Fiona Shaw as Lady Catherine), but everything else I've seen and heard falls flat for me...especially Euros Lyn as director who made some decent DW eps but most of his attributed eps (including all of Torchwood) are badly directed.

Dolly Alrderton is presented with a credit on screen like she's some bigwig...no, she's a small time Romcom novelist, who did some assistant script work on a couple of British sitcoms (Fresh Meat and Peep Show) both in their worst seasons.

Lastly, why do so many adaptations neglect how FUNNY and light Austen's work is...it's not brooding dark Bronte shit...it's light and silly in many moments. I got nothing of that in this teaser either (which admittedly is not a long look)....I also admit my views on this are tailored through Netflix's attempt at PERSUASION with Dakota Johnson that was obscenely bad.

Listen, I'll watch...it's P&P after all, but as it stands now I'm betting I'm deeply disappointed...

EDIT: Oh shit, look...the screenwriter who adapted this work apparently had some shit to say 7 years ago in the Guardian....and it's someone who doesn't apparently like Austens work adapting it to cash in...GRAND. I have even LESS faith now. My gods..

Gina Torres will guest star on ABC cop dramedy The Rookie in its exciting Season 8 finale.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
