I tried to get into Snowpiercer but it just didn't click with me. I think I dropped out after the fourth episode. Someone mentioned it gets better, but I haven't got around to trying it again. I thought the movie was really excellent. I guess Sean Bean joins the show in season 2.

I'm finally beginning to work out how everyone is related and who turns into who between the 3 timelines. However what bothers me a little bit is that how do people not notice when someone comes along looking exactly like the person they meet 33 years ago. Like, how does Hannah not see Mikkel in 2019 and not be like "hey that kid looks just like my husband when I meet him in hospital 33 years ago and his name was also Mikkel!"?

Or in the episode I just watched, Ulrich goes back to 1953 and meets Helge as a boy (who we established is definitely up to some shady stuff with Noah and possibly exists in multiple timelines?) Ulrich thinks Helge is responsible for all the problems and kills him (probably).
Say Helge survives, which I suspect he will as he had a scar on his face in 1986 consistent with the injury Ulrich gave him in 1953, is he not going to see Ulrich in the 2000s and be like "hey that's the dude who tried to beat me to death as a child!"

Not a major thing, and no doubt is tackled or at least has a simple enough explanation, but something that is sticking in my head as I'm watching.

Anyways, 2 episodes to go in season 1.

Finished season 1! You guys were right this is some fine TV. I wish my German was better as I'd love to watch it without voiceover.

I've had to keep the Wikipedia page for the series close to hand to assist in understanding bits and I have no idea where it will go now! Similarly I have no clue what Noah is planning.

Definitely in for the rest of the show! Glad they were allowed to finish it as intended.

Dubbing *shudders*. Abhorrent phenomenon. I appreciate the need with kid's programs or visual impairments, but I honestly cannot watch any non-animated film that has been dubbed. Severely puts me off. Subtitles all the way. Might be habituation as well, I guess. If you grow up in a relatively small language area as opposed to e.g. the US, UK, France or Germany, you are far less likely to be exposed to dubbed tv and movies as it is less cost effective. So watching foreign (e.g. English language) films with subtitles becomes the norm.

Couple ive wrapped up.

Mare of Easttown. Very solid show, I dont think it was as astoundingly amazing as some do, but the acting was top notch and it was very well done.


Better Call Saul. Might be better than Breaking Bad, but i need to get Season 6 and do a re-watch of BB, which i just started. Either way, Jimmy's descent into Saul is amazing to watch. It is no way a linear move, and watching how he goes from Jimmy in the first couple seasons to the straight up "criminal, lawyer" in BB is incredible to watch.


Wife and i are wrapping up Dr. Death tonight. I think it could have been 6-7 episodes instead of 8, but we still enjoyed it. Pretty sure Joshua Jackson was made to play that smarmy pompous asshole. And Christian Slater never fails, the dude is just perfect in almost everything.



Either going to start Yellowstone or the new season of Handmaids Tale now.

It was slow going with Better Call Saul in some of those early seasons. I personally enjoyed the nuanced story between Jimmy and his brother. Kim Wexler and Nacho Varga belong in the pantheon of the best characters in the BB/BCS ecosystem (and lets not forget Mike, but we already know he earned his place). The most recent season is an absolute must watch for any fans of BB/BCS. I look forward to, and it will be appointment television, when the final season airs.

How is Bob Odenkirk doing? I guess he had a health scare a couple months ago?

Mare of Easttown was really solid, but damn it was depressing. Misery porn I've labeled it. Which brings me to another HBO property. Has anyone watched The White Lotus? I've been seeing some reactions of it here and there and I think I may want to give it a go.

They're still filming season 5. Odenkirk is apparently ready to come back but theyre making him take some more time off, but still filming without him.


I've heard enough good things about White Lotus that its on my list.

I've been watching Sex Education on Netflix. I avoided it originally as I assumed it was just one of those gratuitous shows dangling sex to get the viewers in. I really like it though. Intriguing and funny and the central characters are really likeable. I have almost finished season 2.

Adult Swim is at it again. This looks to be targeted at viewers who make better living through chemistry a priority. Very strange, but I'm all in.

My partner and I finished The White Lotus on HBO.

It's like an evolved Fawlty Towers, with a lookalike hotel manager who gets to do worse things to the guests. However, the evolution is a little mean spirited at times, even if it is quite funny. I thought the charm faded a bit with the disappearance of a couple minor characters and the focus on doubling down with some of the main characters, who didn't really need that doubling down to get across what/who they are.

I think it's worth watching - short run, entertaining, beautifully shot, and at times, quite smart in how the characters interact with each other.

Watched season 2 of Miracle Workers (Miracle Workers: Dark Ages). Eh, it's alright, but not great. There are some funny jokes sprinkled throughout. It has the kid who played Harry Potter. Is his name Dennis Day Lewis? And it has Steve Buscemi, so I'm checking it for that. Season 3 is currently on going - Miracle Workers: Oregon Trail. Going to give it a go. See if they lean in with the jokes related to the topic and video game.

I binged Shadow & Bone over the past few days. Pretty good! I'm not sure how accurately it adapted the books, but it worked well onscreen.

The worldbuilding felt a little small and isolated, unfortunately.

Surprisingly it's not as cringe as I was worried it was going to be. I genuinely enjoyed it and the girl playing the main character is very good.

There are definitely YA elements to it but it was written as a YA novel so that's too be expected a bit.

It's pretty accurate actually, just that the Shadow and Bone trilogy (The Darkling, and Alina storyline) is in it combined with her other duology about the Crows (Kaz, Inez, Matthias, Nina, and Jesper). Story points are all pretty close to what happens in the books.

Been catching some of the Dark Side of the 90s docuseries. Caught the one about Beanie Babies. Oh my that was a crazy time. According to what this episode lays out, beanie babies drove some innovation in the early world wide web. Organized crime got involved also. And the CEO was this eccentric, willy wonka type who was very secretive and shadowy.
