Watching BODYGUARD it's pretty intense and intriguing!

I wondered if anyone else was watching/had watched this show. My wife and I watched it last weekend and were really impressed by it. I had a moderate quibble with a single plot point but that was it. Intense is the exact word that first came to my mind. And the intensity remains to the very end. Highly recommend it.

Only have the final episode to go so don't answer of this is a spoiler, but what's the quibble?

My only quibble was
Spoiler

Other than that the show was brilliant.

I made it through season 3. It was ok. I have no idea why its considered great, other than it is a clever spin on the typical mob boss story.

Huh, well slap my ass and call me Sally and dip me in honey dew brine. I just noticed HBO is playing a season a day of The Sopranos (currently on season 3). I've never watched The Sopranos. Should I check it out? Yes? No? Meh?

I watched the final episode (only one I've ever seen), because all of the hype surrounding it. Didn't understand it and did not know what was going on (obviously). Was mildly amused by all the (either the outright hate or 'genius' tag) that was being heaped on the episode. None of what transpired in the final episode hooked me such that I wanted to start watching from the beginning. But with HBO airing the complete series, I was just wondering if it is worth spending my time.

I tried a few times, but SOPRANOS never held my interest.
It was well done for what it was, and i understand the widespread appeal, but lacked enough originality to get me to commit.

Hey dudes!

So HBO's run of the complete series wrapped up and I watched the last episode again. Wanted to see if would grab me in any way that it didn't the first time. Well it didn't. I just found the whole thing 'meh', tbh. Maybe I should start from the first episode? I dunno, it just doesn't really do it for me. Sorry Soprano fans.

I never watched Friends. These sitcoms really aren't my jam but I did watch Sheen's Anger Management from start to finish when it was airing.

Yesterday and now today I've been watching hour upon hour of Friends on TBS and have just been in pain loln so hard. Yesterday was some of S6 today is starting 7 so I have no clue what's happening overall with arcs but I'm still getting a kick.

Friends are a staple of Danish television. Untill just a few years ago it was being rerun on one of the main channels daily. I think it's still running daily on a smaller channel.

Seinfeld never got popular but I bet I've seen every Friends episode a couple times.

Plays from 10 to 3 tomorrow. I think this is on Netflix but not sure if I want to attempt to tackle it from the start.

FRIENDS is my go-to jam. I own all the seasons on DVD (yep, I'm that guy), and I have it on as background noise all the time on netflix...I have seen all ten seasons AT least 20 times over and can recite most of the eps by heart.

None of this should be something to crow about mind you. It actually makes me look rather sad. LOL

Season 7 is the season with a lot of bathsit plot lines...like the one where Chandler inexplicably can't smile for pictures...some good eps in there too though...

EDIT: and it's not the nadir of the series, as that belongs to the 10th season episode "The One Where Joey Speaks French"....that episode is the most terribad ep of TV sitcom ever because it makes no sense.

I bailed out somewhere around S5 or 6, but enjoyed most of what i saw until then.
It was very funny, most of the time, which was saying a lot back when every Big Network was running 2-3 hit sitcoms and a bunch of b-levels.

Never got into Friends myself. Just a smidge before my time for it to have any kind of emotional / real world application to my own experience. I've flipped around the channels and landed on it a few times and tried to check it out to try and understand what all the hullabaloo was about during its initial run. I just don't understand the appeal. It doesn't speak to me in any meaningful way and I don't get why its so popular (even now in syndication). I guess I need to be older? Agree? yes? no? meh?

Maybe you're just cold and dead inside?

Great point. Very well could be.

I just found it pretentious and too pandering (or making an attempt to be) to a bohemian aesthetic that doesn't exist or strike a chord with me in any way. I feel the same way about The Big Bang Theory, which is more contemporary with my experience. I tried to watch it, but I find it completely unfunny and that it tries too hard to be 'nerdy', which I find disingenuous. A lot of my family and friends love the show however. I dunno, I think you're on to something. Cold and dead inside is probably it. Any recommendations for a good therapist so I can work out my issues and embrace and love the show Friends? Or just be content with living a life less enriched than those who've watched every episode (no less then 3 times each)? Agree? yes? no? meh?

Meh, you're not missing much. I never got the whole insanity over 'Friends' anyway. (Probably because I have none myself, right? :p )

And in the interests of full disclosure - I couldn't stand Seinfeld. Only ever saw one ep that made me chuckle, and that was the JFK ripoff ep about the 'second spitter on the grassy knoll'.

Big Bang's best years were seasons 2-5. Like most long running TV shows.

I'm sure there's plenty of other so-called 'classics' that get the thumbs down from me, but I can't be arsed can't think of any at the moment.

Ross and Rachael are both awful people. I think they deserve each other.

The true heart of the show is Joey.

Anyone watching The Passage? First episode was pretty good. I'm curious to see where it goes. I have the novel in my queue, but wanted to see the show before reading.

^^This is very accurate. S1 and 2 it's still largely finding it's feet (though Season 2 DOES have the Richard plot line, which is one of my faves and it has connotations for the whole series as he pops up later during important "events")

S3 - 5 have ALL the best episodes and arcs, including the Ross / Emily arc, and Chandler and Monica hide their relationship arc.

S6 to 10 the quality is spottier with a lot more middling episodes, but there are still some gems in there.

Best two episodes of the entire run are:

THE ONE WITH THE EMBRYOS - S4, episode 12 because it has the trivia game that Ross creates, and they play and it loses Monica and Rachel their apartment.

and

THE ONE WHERE ROSS GOT HIGH - S6, Episode 9 because it has Rachel's Trifle. "Jam good, custard good, meat GOOD"

On topic and away from old sitcoms...

I finally started watching KIM'S CONVENIENCE (don't know what took me so long, it takes place in my city and stars people I find quite funny)...and it's fantastic. I'm only about halfway thorough S1 so far, but this is just a charming, and off-the-cuff comedy half hour to enjoy.

It's on Netflix for those internationally.
