I liked it too. It had a pretty cool concept. A little weird at times, but still, I liked it.

Me too.

Didn't Dollhouse lead into Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles or vice versa? I remember being locked in to those two hours every week. Posted Image

Cool concept, weak execution.
The few clever bits were lost to TV 101 plotted episodes and them trying to dance around the sex slave thing.

Yeah, I believe it was on the same night and the same channel.

I like what DOLLHOUSE eventually showed us they were heading towards. The first like season of episodes are pretty roundly awful just playing off the whole "personality inserted into random blank body" as standalone eps with very little but Echo's questions of her past as an overarching plot point. The finale was solid enough to be interesting....

That said, the turning point was Season 2 episode 4, and form there on out I thought it was REALLY compelling tv...but it never got a chance to become anything more....as in typical Whedon-on-Fox fashion, Fox cancelled it early.

Dollhouse had some really good bits but it also had lots of weak bits and then a really rushed ending.

Spy in the House of Love is a great episode though... and it introduced the world to Enver Gjokaj.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Agreed. They really should have just embraced the sex slave thing and run with it!

I have no idea what the modern Inhuman roster looks like but I can't see it working. The special effects budget for Medusa's hair alone would bankrupt them. Blackbolt is supposed to never/rarely take off his suit because with out it he risks just obliterating everything, how does an actor do Blackbolt when you can't see his facial expressions and he doesn't speak? What about that giant dog? Or the half goat guy that kicks shit really hard? Triton the fish guy, Etc., etc.

I imagine they're going to pull an Agents of Shield and mainly feature "vanilla" Inhumans with occasional references to the Royal line of Inhumans one assumes will feature in the Movie. That way they can just have teen drama with human looking Inhumans.

Remember in the 80s when "fantasy" = mullets, leather headbands/armbands/bikinis, side-braids & rat tails, etc.? This looks like the superhero version of that.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think the Inhumans movie got "disappeared".

Along with the new It trailer (did you guys see that? Man, a little bit of pee squeaked out of me, and not the excited good kind, but the holy shit that looks scary AF kind), I learned that another Stephen King adaptation is coming to television.

Not sure how excited I am about this, but hey its got Queen Aslaug from Vikings in it. Posted Image I'll probably let it marinate for a few episodes before I rip off about three or four in a row to see if it is worth staying with.

Yeah, and this stretches into the whole Feige VS Perlmutter thing going on at Marvel.

In a nutshell: Kevin Feige is in charge of Marvel movies....and Ike Perlmutter is in charge of Marvel comics, animated, and TV shows. For a while (I think before Cap 2: Winter Soldier?) Feige had to report to the head of Disney, Alan Horn, THROUGH Perlmutter as a "chain of command" dealie. This meant that Perlmutter could cull Feige's ideas or prevent them from getting clearance with Horn at all. And he did so with his own subjective prejudice of what he felt the Marvel brand should execute in the movie universe (I think Perlmutter didn't want to do GotG? for example). This is why the movies up to Cap 2 and the TV shows did seem to include one another as a complete interactive canon...like when Sif showed up on AoS in Season 2. But afterwards you've seen a marked vagueness permeate the two sides of the coin. This is because Feige, annoyed with being micromanaged by Perlmutter when his films universe was SO successful, went over Perlmutter's head, and made it clear what was happening to Disney head Alan Horn. Horn agreed that it was unfair and now Feige reports DIRECTLY to him as opposed to having to interact and go through Perlmutter. This issue is what sunk the Inhumans movie, and how it became a TV show....as the TV side of Marvel (AKA Perlmutter) had the Inhumans brand from their use of the characters on AoS. As such, Perlmutter refused to allow and Inhumans movie and pushed to get the Royal family for TV instead.

This is why on DAREDEVIL, JESSICA JONES ect. and even AoS now...there is a marked disconnect between the movies and tv...while still nebulously trying to reference them ("The incident" "The green guy" "The Patriot" ect.) to keep them relevant to the MCU's success. And as long as Ike Perlmutter is in charge of the TV side, this gap will only widen with more MCU success...and I fear this may eventually be a wedge that might affect both brands as a result. Only time will tell.

It should be noted that Perlmutter is the asshole in all this. He's apparently a rich, headstrong old man with his own personal opinions of what should be in the Marvel universe...and I often wonder if he's the guy who prevented a female-led movie from happening for so long...or Black Panther....he seems like the type to me....while Feige is a young more progressive guy who's hands were tied before he spoke with Horn.

Either way, anyone who thinks that the Disney/Marvel brand is untouchable....these two titans smashing at each other behind the scenes could not be more representative of the superheroes they are putting on the screen...could spell problems down the road.

Looking at that from a shareholder perspective, the way you describe it, I'd demand that either Feige or Perlmutter be fired. You don't want that kind of rivalry and deliberate antagonism growing between different departments of your billion dollar franchises.

You can't do this, as Marvel Entertainment (Perlmutter side) as a company is owned by Disney as a Subsidiary...while Marvel Studios (the Feige side) is a direct subsidiary under the Disney company.

Marvel Entertainment is essentially still its own company...that just happens to be owned by Disney higher up the chain. Perlmutter can make decisions without the purview of Horn and Disney.

Marvel Studios is a part of Disney at a more intricate level and isn't a company of its own. Feige cannot make decisions without the purview of Horn and Disney.

So Horn can't fire Perlmutter as far as I know. Horn could make life tougher for Perlmutter...but he can't oust him.

Bear in mind that Perlmutter is an eccentric billionaire who has not even been PHOTOGRAPHED in the last 20 years...and he's the reason that Marvel is solvent now (his Toy Biz company helped Marvel stay afloat in the 90's)...so he's got a lot of pull in his own company with his own shareholders. Even though from all accounts he's the raging-est bro dickhead of them all.

This hasn't been reported at all in the media as far as I can tell, for whatever reason, but Tim Omundson (of Psych, Galavant, etc.) suffered a stroke last week and is in surgery today (I think). There just isn't much information out there at all. https://www.facebook...58364484223457/

I was sort of peripherally aware of the whole Fiege/Perlmutter thing going on behind the scenes. It's seriously a real shame especially if it just pushes the the two wings of the MCU ever further apart, AoS was at it's best when it had a tight continuity with the movies, i.e The Winter Soldier HYDRA stuff. I keep telling myself that nothing more serious has shown up in the Netflix shows simply because it's still pre-Civil War continuity wise, but it does seem more and more like it will just be a matter of the wings only superficially inhabiting the same universe. And yeah I agree, somewhere down the line this could harm one or both sides, but surely anyone with a brain must see that it is the shows using the MCU's success as a platform for their own uplifting, not the other way around. Perlmutter sounds like your typical eccentric, stubborn billionaire who must have things his way, a little bit like Vince McMahon and the WWE to use another of my interests as an example.

What I don't understand is this, why wasn't the TV wing automatically under Feige's guidance from the beginning, from the moment that they knew they wanted to expand in that manner, surely having it under the one umbrella made more sense than creating a sort of ven diagram of umbrellas as it were :/

EDIT: I mean surely as the parent company Disney must have had some say over who get's control of the TV wing, or to say that TV and movies fall under the same purview,

Powers Boothe died. I guess he was more of a movie person, but my first thought about this was "Oh no, the Deadwood revival movie!" followed by thoughts of his great voice (Gorilla Grodd on Justice League comes to mind). He was one of the all-time best at playing mundane selfish villains. Like I'm sure he coulda played the devil with panache, but he was so good at just playing corrupt people.

I can't believe any of you guys haven't touched on how awesome Silicon Valley still is. I figured some of you folks would be into this show because some of the ridiculousness that the show portrays about the tech world may parallel some of your real world work experiences (I know it has mine at times).
