It kind of does, but I have two notes about it that worry me:

1. Seth Macfarlane's humour is...SO on the nose that it's often QUITE unfunny. Like can anyone ever watch Family Guy anymore? It's just a bunch of strung together "situations" and "remember that time..." so the odds it will descend into that are high.

and

2. This looks like a budget-y show for Fox...which means that we've PROBABLY seen all the money shots already in the trailer...and Fox is already notorious with cancellation of a show before it finds its legs...but a budget-y show will get axed even faster if it doesn't perform HARD out of the gate. So uphill battle before it's even aired.

All that said...Norm MacDonald as some kind of gelatinous goo character? Sign me up!

Yah, Silicon Valley is still great. Didn't watch the latest one yet though.

I DID just run through all of Master of None season 2 and I think this show is firing on all cylinders. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if 'Parents' from season 1 remained everyone's favorite episode, but this season's 'Thanksgiving' is a close second, and 'Religion' is another standout topical episode. That said, the baseline quality of the show is higher this time around: it's lol funny *very* often, and when it's not, the drama and romance are more interesting (the Noel Wells stuff last year was good and honest, but the relationship stuff in S2 is even more ambitious and more adult). And every episode is beautiful.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

MASTER OF NONE may very well be one of the finest tv shows I've seen in a while. I agree It's ostensibly a comedy, but does drama and heart with the best of them. Ansari and Yang have made another winner with s2...I utterly adored the first ep which riffed on The classic Italian flick, THE BICYCLE THIEVES. Utterly brilliant.

Yah, the Italian throughline of the season was so well done. At first, it risks being too on the nose, but that first episode is so delightful (and has such personality) that the Bicycle Thieves stuff does the word homage proud (i.e. it is NOT the Psycho remake it could have been).

Started watching Master of None once, it wasn't particularly funny but I'd be willing to give it another shot I guess.

Be willing? BE WILLING?

That show is too damn good for such unenthusiastic viewership.

I don't think "funny" is necessarily the most important thing about it, I just happened to think season 2 was full of really funny moments more so than the first one.

^^This.

The funny that is sprinkled liberally throughout (while awesome), is nothing compared to the heart, charm and just general "life-ness" about the show.

These are like little doses of "experience" through this persons life (and his friends lives) that we get to tag along for.

And I mean Ansari's banter-y humour permeates even the most normal scenes.

Alora!

Uh, I just read The Witcher is being made into a show by Netflix. I will be interested to see how this develops.

I was wondering when someone was going to mention this show. I sort of wanted to get discussion going about it but figured most here would find the humor too over the top and offensive. To me though, it's hilarious. Azaria's throw back, old timey baseball announcer is the perfect vessel for all of the lewd jokes.Posted Image

Just finished up season 1 tonight. Never been a big Amanda Peet fan, but she's damn good in this too.

"That ball cannot be buried in a Jewish cemetery because it just got tattooed!"

I'm behind a few episodes (I believe three), hope to binge the rest this weekend if I get some time freed up.

I haven't seen Amanda Peete in much, but I guess her husband is one of the primary show runners/producers of Game of Thrones because I seen her on a talk show and the host (forget get which one, may have been Jimmy Kimmel) was trying to get her (jokingly) to reveal what was going to happen in future episodes.

Lucifer back on, watched the ep with his 'wife'.

This show has suddenly lost it for me... so formulaic, I was just watching without any real investment as it's so predictable - they're even re-using some of the jokes from season one.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Interesting. Never saw the original but I'm always intrigued when modern movie or TV production want to re-introduce animatronics and handmade special effects.

Dude. It's a CLASSIC. Literally the finest thing Jim Henson made in his short life. Get on watching that!

The Dark Crystal is perrrrrrfect. Man this is a crazy surprise. There's been talk of a sequel forever, off and on, but a series might just be the way to go.
