Shit yeah! Quietly pumped for this.

And how nice of them to release it on my birthday. Very considerate. :D :fun:

Well happy birthday! Makes sense, blowing out birthday candles is a cherished custom among the Air Nation, for its obvious symbolism.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

The trailer sells it well.

I want it to be good but it’s going to let me down as soon as I allow myself to hope.

Up for giving it a shot, it's a great looking trailer - but I'm more excited about the new animated content that's on the horizon from the original creators.

Here you go!

Avatar: The Last Airbender — the new animated movie comes out in 2025 - Polygon

I think there are supposed to be two others as well, though don't necessarily quote me as I can't find anything newer than 2022 mentioning that.

Disney+ showing Shogun as being due 27th Feb. I am so excited about this! If I didn't have so much to read anyway I'd consider a re-read (it is a big book after all) but I'm half tempted to anyway!

New season of Fargo is solid so far. They always cast so damn well.
John Hamm is awesome. Juno Temple (Keeley from Ted Lasso) is awesome. Jennifer Jason Leigh is awesome. David Foley (yes, Kids in the Hall David Foley is awesome. And the dude who plays Old Munch and Steve’s from Stranger Things are both awesome.

Also watched the first 2 episodes of the new True Detective. I’m in.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Yes, but no more than people who watched S2 and S3 will be. Possibly less actually, since iirc it primarily references season 1. Might be worth rewatching S1 first though.

Quote

López has conceived of Night Country as a response to the series' first season, a mirror image that reverses the thing it reflects while offering a fresh path forward. Instead of humid rural Louisiana, the setting is frigid, small-town northwestern Alaska during the time of year when the sun never rises above the horizon. [...]

[Edit: to clarify, it's apparently a self-contained story that doesn't require having watched any of the prior seasons in order to follow the plot. However there are allusions to / inversions of season 1....]

Same here. Loved the first season but just couldn't get into the second one. It was such a jarring shift in pace and feel.
Yesterday, upon the stair, I saw a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. Oh, how I wish he'd go away.

I started both 2 and 3 and bailed. Season 4 is much better so far.

Finished peaky blinders. Good stuff. Watching generation v now, it’s ok but not as good as the boys which it is a spin-off of.

Connections between True Detective season 4 and season 1 might be more substantial than I thought---Pizzolatto (creator/writer of seasons 1-3) says he wasn't consulted or informed about this and responded to one apparent plot connection with 'Haha so stupid':

(image in link contains mild spoilers, not sure if they've been confirmed or not)

Apparently at least one character from season 1 has a cameo.

True Detective is an anthology series, so no need to watch the other seasons. I jumped from season 1 to 4.

I watched the the first 3 episodes and really liked it, though the setting is really jarring. The fact that it's constant night is unsettling, their "day" and "night", on/off duty activies melt together making it seem like work and private life blurs.

Also that corpsicle thing is fucked up.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians - Disney +

Look, I read all of the first 10 books. As an adult. It is thoroughly YA. Very thoroughly YA for both books and tv. However, it is an entertaining series and the Disney + series is pretty on point.

It looks clean, its acted well enough for kids, and it stays very true to the series (not shocking as the author (Rick Riordan) writes the scripts).

If you liked the books, I think you'll enjoy the first season. It's definitely more book based, and definitely does not have Alexandra Daddario there to distract from the subject matter with her sheer... Alexandra Daddarioness.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
