Dear The Handmaid's Tale season 3,
I don't care how cool the soundtrack is... one more sunlight framed slow zoom to or from June's face staring at the camera and i'll stab you.
Yes, through the television.

I really liked the show, but I thought the changes they made to the backstory of the Envoys was a serious mistake.
Hell yeah. I'm up to episode 8, just watched the whole reworked history - it doesn't make much sense in the tv show tbh. Vidura was his mentor - Quell was long dead. Rei wasn't his sister? The Envoys were part of the protectorate, not a small group of rebels.
Like all book to tv translations, they've made some really weird and inexplicable changes. Even Kovacs has been softened; when he left the lab I wanted him blowing out the stacks of everyone in the place.
The head retrieval was cool, but now he has this whole sentiment driven character, whose Envoy skills seem to have been forgotten as the show progresses.
It's been good up until now; I don't see how the end can have the same impact now the Kowahara character has been rewritten as his sister. It makes zero sense.
And... no Sarah?

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Anyone heard/seen of a show called Euphoria? I keep seeing it mentioned but I don’t think we have it over here in the UK, unless it’s on Sky Atlantic maybe?

So I finished The Terror and absolutely adored it.
Recommend me some more shows. I feel in a tv mood.

If you want more Jared Harris, then CHERNOBYL because it's beyond fantastic.

What kind of access do you have Ando? Would you care to try a Western?
Both Netflix and Prime, so a pretty wide selection of shows.
My friend told me to watch True Detective.
I loved Westworld, I plan to watch Stranger Things whenever I get the time.
I don't know much about Westerns.

If you have Netflix try watching Outlander finally.
Try Hell on Wheels. It was a show on AMC(cable) but it still pushed the boundaries on restrictions. It's a fictional account of the Tran continental railroad. Main character is from the south hell bent on revenge of the northerners responsible for murdering his wife and son and a railroad gets built along the way. It is a seriously great show. It's gritty and violent and shows racial tension and the bonds of friendship and love and tenderness. Ansom Mount would be perfect for Dark Tower's Roland.
True Detective S1 is flat out must see tv that takes place in my neck of the woods literally, but it's on HBO.

Hell on Wheels looks good. Thanks for the rec!
Also I can get True Detective as I think either Hotstar or Amazon Prime is offering it. (Hotstar is an Indian streaming service, we watched GoT on it)
I might see Outlander, at least Season 1.
Anyone seen The Alienist?

Haven't seen it, but all the reports I've seen go on about it being all about teen drama, shagging and doing drugs and apparently there's penises out everywhere. Titillation TV.
Safe to say I'll probably avoid, sounds boring.

No problem. I hope you start it today/soon and have a positive reaction to it.
I would definitely check out atleast S1 of Outlander for the landscape alone. Seeing how great the actually cast the characters is an extra bonus.

Finally got around to watching Castle Rock. Great cast, and while I'm not a fan of Stephen King as a prose stylist, he does seem excellent at arranging plots to create suspense. Surprisingly, it's a major failure on that front, more boring than Wayward Pines, without the atmospherics, characterization, or quality dialogue of other series. Guess I'll slog on through episode 3....
Granted, I usually don't mind a slow burn, and my expectation of a trashy but immediately engrossing King / Abrams jawn may have been diminishing my enjoyment.
OTOH I also finally got around to watching HBO's Carnivale, and it's very engaging and well-done so far (a few episodes in), though again not particularly aimed at profundity or the world's best dialogue. Enjoyable
But I find myself enjoying La vida es sueño on Youtube much more (technically a film version of a play from the 1600's), even though I barely know any Spanish.

Just for you BK - The Bachelor, 'Strayan style. A bit of a switch up from the last one (Nick "The Honey Badger" Cummins, a rugby union player and dead set 'Strayan icon), the new guy is an Astrophysicist.

Castle Rock gets better in episodes 3 and 4 (one really good scene each, plot interest and characterization improving)---not exactly hooked, but am now curious what happens next.
Also, I meant Hemlock Grove before, not Wayward Pines. Hemlock Grove is the absurdly slow-paced Netflix series that Castle Rock actor Bill Skarsgård starred in previously (what percentage of Swedish actors currently famous in the Anglophone world are named Skarsgård?... approximately 100%?).
[Edit: Lol Google search for 'Swedish actor' brings up two *other* Skarsgårds! But Dolph Lundgren is apparently still alive. Malin Åkerman is a bit famous too though she was raised in Canada and I didn't recognize her by name.]
[Edit: Not a coincidence after all: 'Alexander Skarsgård was born in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the eldest son of actor Stellan Skarsgård [...] He has five younger siblings [...]Gustaf, Bill, and Valter are also actors.' Wikipedia]
