Uh it had an ending that made sense, I suppose, but also halfway wussed out. It didn't like negate everything that went before, or break the 'rules' it set up, and it still had its dark moments and implications, but it also -- imo at least -- neutered the threat a bit. Also, this is another Flanagan thing with an awful epilogue. Luckily there were 10 hours of mostly good stuff leading up to it, so it wasn't as severe a clunker as Gerald's Game's epilogue, but also he can't blame this one on Stephen King. Anyway, I still gave it the ol' Netflix thumbs up, and I thought it was by and large quite good. Maybe that ending will work better for others, who knows.

And yes, the jump scare (yes, THAT jump scare) is easily the best and most unexpected I've ever encountered in media...and having it tie directly to the scene and characters at hand (and thus not exist solely to be a jump scare) was perfect.

This was much more about family dynamics than the spookiness, and as such it nailed every aspect of that.

And I liked the ending and was a soppy mess during some of it. Awful epilogue what? I mean seriously worry? Not everything can end on a smash cut non-sequeitior that leaves everything up to you, you know.

And excited to hear that the show runner says he's open to a second season, but that the story of the Crains is done and told...meaning I suppose that the "Haunting" moniker would pass on but it would be about new people.

Also, when the hell did Elliot from ET grow up to be a middle aged dude?

Absolutely. Not every episode is a winner but the ones that are good are very very good. It's an anthology series so each episode its own self contained story meaning if you don't like one, keep watching. The first episode of season 1 is a weird one which is why I mention it.
