I won't subscribe to CBS access for this until it's all there and I can binge in a month, but yeah, that'll bring me in.

Ditto. But only if the reviews are good.

That too.

Watched a 2 hr show on Oxygen earlier today about GSK. Pretty interesting stuff.

QT you may want to look this up. It's replaying at 8pm Central.

I didn’t know either of you were interested in big pharma.

Johnathan Frakes is going to direct another Orville episode.

Special guest stars to include: Marina Sirtis, Ted Dansn, F. Murray Abraham, and Tony Todd

At first I thought he said he'd watched a 2 hour show on Oxygen, like the element... I'm like wow that's boring!

In other news, I forgot how phenomenal an episode Hush is. Like, one of the next episodes of any show!

Having Q return is a must at some point.

Agreed. In fact, what if in the last 20years Q has somehow inexplicably died (not sure how), and instead of a live Q, DeLancie recurs the role as Q in Jean Luc’s head....like a devilish conscience pushing him to do things and keep him on his toes. I could see that being a really great way to examine his influence on Picards life.

First episode you have no idea Q is dead. So he appears and Picard keeps talking about him doing things, or messing up things...and Picard blames him...and at the end of the ep you find out that Q is dead, and the whole story has been Picard making whatever bad decisions he made all on his own. Like I can picture the last few minutes with Picard looking for advice and Q saying simply “Jean Luc, you and I both know I’ve been dead for years.”

No argument here. More Q can only be a great thing.

It's basically Total Recall. But instead of virtual vacations, big pharma has co-opted the technology to apply to individuals suffering from various forms of neurosis/psychosis. But instead of leaving and entering back in to your real life, you just stay in the happy worlds in your head. So TOTAL RECALL meets COMA would be more apt analogy?

Re: ROMAN EMPIRE: REIGN OF BLOOD.

I wonder why they chose to do the Commodus/Marcus Aurelius story first season, and then jump back in time to do Julius Caesar second season? At a guess, is it possible they wanted to "Sell" the show to audiences out of the gate, so chose the latter story to do first so most people would have an inkling about it because the Marcus Aurelius / Commodus story is the one from GLADIATOR (no mater how torn to shreds it is there in favour of poetic license). Speaking of which, it's interesting to get the real story here, including REALLY important characters entirely absent from the movie (like Empress Faustina, Cassius Dio, Bruttia Crispina, Cleander, Saortorus), and to see Commodus as he actually was (and minus all the weird affectations from the movie, like killing his father to be Emperor, incestuously fawning after his own sister, ect.) and see that Marcus Aurelius was hell bent on making his son the Emperor, and Commodus was not ready, nor all that willing to "rule".

Oh, and sidebar: The actress who plays Lucilla...Tai Berdinner Blades...good goods almighty...I MAY have a small crush.

I LOVE the concept of this show to be honest. The production value, music, cast and sets of an actual fictional historical show, but also with documentarian talking head interviews with historians to fill in gaps, or help to explain the more complex issues at work in the story. It works in SPADES as far as I'm concerned. I'm nearly done Season 1, and will roll right into Season 2 when done. I know season 2 just dropped, but I hope they announce more seasons and cover a bunch of different Imperial reigns!

Anyone here who loves Ancient Rome...watch this.

What's this airing on QT?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Are there toga parties?

I mean...not really...

Though it's interesting to note that since it's a Netflix series, there IS SOME sex and nudity...but it's VERY mild (a bared breast from afar, male buttocks, and some covered/quasi-nude "copulating")...but the fact that it's a documentary series too makes that a little odd. Not that I'm complaining, I'm fairly sure that Commodus's early and late "whoring" ways were ten times more graphic than the minor way it's presented here.

Either way, while no Toga parties are in evidence, the ancient Roman penchant for casual and copius sex with multiple partners is on full display.

Those damn birds though...

So since you noted this before I was properly into the season I noticed them...and to be fair, they have a few static/scenery shots that include the birds as "movement" that they repeat, so it's not like they made 20 shots with the birds...just like 3 that are re-used over and over.

But yes, if birds took flight that often in Ancient Rome, they DEFINITELY had a fowl problem!

LOL
