Your splitting hairs. You benefited from an incorrect call. The other team benefited from a call that could have gone either way. The guy was clearly tugging on him in the box...so eh...as a non-biased observer I have no problem with the call.

Missed the Croatia game but well pleased with the result. Watched the Poland & Austria game ....should have been 4.0 to Austria in the first 15 mins but poor finishing. Polish goal(offside) sucked the life from Austrians. Penalty? yes...... agree they arent usually given. All in All an entertaining game and I am enjoying the tournament so far.

Well there are a million Poles here who Im sure he'll have fun avoiding in bars, at any rate. :)


France Netherlands tonight, should be a cracker, although if Domenech continues to pick Sagnol, Abidal and Thuram, the Dutch should take it easily.

To be fair if he'd given that to Poland I wouldn't have batted an eyelid, and even if it wasn't a pen, our goal was offside.

We should have tonked this lot, it's no use blaming the ref. When we were in control and dominating the game I was so frustrated that we weren't pushing for another, because we ideally needed a 3-0 win anyway to mean that we only had to get one off Croatia.

back to other matters, who do we think for today? a holland and italy victory?
france cant be any worse and italy are going to start del piro and cassono(sp) or so ive heard, they both looked better than most in the last game so it could be a good show!

Italy shouldn't have much of a problem with Romania. As poor as France were, the Romanians still didn't trouble them too much, and Italy's defence, even without Cannavaro, should be solid enough to keep them out. On top of which, they'll be itching to prove themselves are losing to Holland.
The France-Holland game will be closer than people expect, I think. Holland should still win, but it won't be as comprehensive as I've seen some preditions...

italy were a tad unlucky against holland, as stupid as it sounds they were, totaly deserved to get beat but 3-0 was harsh also i have no doubt its holland italy who will go through, unless france improve a hell of a lot and holland become really really bad!!

I have two major issues with that game.

1) Mutu's complete ineptitude at taking pens

2) Toni's shocking inability to put away at least one cross (barring the one ruled out).

Useless.

I did actually think that was a pen though, have a look at Panucci's arm, it's wrapped right around the Romanian bloke's neck and collarbone, you just cant do that these days, especially in a penalty area.
