I just watched the Sweden/Spain game, more compelling stuff.

I think that for all the plaudits some of the sides are receiving for impressive wins (Spain, Holand, Portugal), they have been against poor sides(yes, I count France as poor) but more importantly they really haven't been tested defensively. Spain looked vulnerable against Russia and Sweden even though their attacks are relatively pedestrian (moments of brilliance from Zlatan the 3 year old aside) and Itlay and France are shambolic.

I've been impressed by the Croats

I agree ..... Croatia could be next unfancied winners of this comp.

Spain and the Dutch have looked great going forward at times but I always feel they are vulnerable at the back.

It would be great for Croatia to win, it's a beautiful place and they have been through a lot, I think they would be popular winners

Greece is toast :)

I was talking to my dad during the final few mins, and over the phone he was just cussing sporadically in Greek and English. When they scored that goal that was called off-sides, I just dropped the phone because it was so hilarious. I could hear my mom in the background admonishing him :p

Exactly my thoughts. After a rather disappointing start against Austria (which might have been a part of their tactics - not to reveal too much of their strategy to Germany), the game against Germany was beautiful. Croats can play football, and I would be glad to see them as No. 1. They definitely deserve it, after the years of bad luck since their success at the World Championship '98.

On the other hand... Of course it would be nice to see Austria use this chance as a host and move further up, but that's just me optimistically hoping for a miracle... ;)

talking of croatia anyone one remember sukers(sp)goal against denmark against denmark in 96 when he chipped schmeichel after he had been up for a denmark corner. one of my favs and i loved the celebration. just thought i would share that with you all!!!

still think its going to be either portugal or spain for the cup but thats just me!!

You have to wonder though, if the Croats are doing well now, imagine how they'd be if Eduardo was fit - he's a goal machine of epic proportions for them. They could well be destroying allcomers.

Aye, put he never played well for the ARSE, even before he got raped in the shin by some studs... form and confidence thereof is always important in Euro Champs...

He may not have played well per se, but he was certainly finding his scoring boots and settling in well,I think had he stayed uninjured he would have put together enough form to do well.

In other news,

WOW.

What a finish.

And Turan scored. Weee!;)

I pity any of you with Cech as your keeper.

Looking forward to this evening. :D Regardless of who wins in the end, I think it's gonna be an interesting game.

Gah, are all the matches in this round starting at 7:45? That's seriously annoying, I can only watch one each night now:(

The Dutch and the Portugese look the best to me so far.

I love that they make the games later so us Americans don't have to get up at 5am to see them....we are so important! MWAHAHAHAHA

But that's good. Football really is getting more popular here. If only kids thought they could make more money doing it and greater fame (in America) they'd stick with it and our best athletes would go pro in the sport.

It's better for the sport if America gets into it.
