Teyla's always pissed me off, but I liked Weir oddly enough- she looks just like my gf's mum. Similar haircut and everything. Plus Im not sure Carter's a good choice to lead the whole expedition- she's more suited to a Rodney style role. Although Id like her and Rodney to get together, would be awesome. ;)

My streaming thing fucked up with 20mins to go of the film, I was not amused.

yeah, weir's kind of got the MILF look going on. I don't mind her too bad acting-wise...she's no Hammond. Gotta love that chubby bald guy.

I just watched season 4 ep 6 or 7, the one where teyla and the doctor are stuck on the planet getting hunted by the bola-kai. Teyla's character is just shitty through-and-through. She's just trying to put too many things together at once. Standoffish bitch, wisewoman, heart-of-gold, ninja master, tortured leader....she's just not actress enough to pull it off.

the tight leather makes up for it somewhat though.

all caught up now. Man season 4 was good. I forgot it was a summer-season show too. Good bcs I don't have to wait as long to find out what happens to them.

I hope they don't get all time-travelly in season 5. That will suck. It's just been done to death in Star trek and other sci fi shows.

Yeah, there's already been a few, to do more would be dull. I mean, fair enough, the Rodney thing wasnt realy time travel, but the solar flare/Sheppard thing, plus the stasis-Weir thing, time trvel's sposed to be nigh on impossible dammit.

yeah...that ep with shepard and rodney-hologram wasn't so much about the time travel as telling the story of what happens if Michael gets out of control...and provided a convenient way of getting intel to the SG:A team on michael's location.

What I meant above was I hope (since in S4 finale teh building collapsed on them) that they don't get into fucking alternate timelines and stuff. Alternate timelines is lame and always makes for incomprehensible plot arcs. Star Trek Enterprise used it to excess, and I think it's the main thing that ruined an otherwise OK star trek series.

yeah, somebody said it before in this thread, but she's just the rodney character from SG1. she just doesn't fit the leader character as well

What do you think of Woolsey taking over as leader of Atlantis for season 5?

Yup, it's on Gateworld. At the very least he will create lots of conflict? Tapping has another series and can't do both, so she's gone......

FINALLY I've found a good streaming host so I can watch SG: Atlantis.

I've been trying for a week to watch season one but all sidereel provided was crappy streaming places like tudou and something called vids.com.

There's nothing more frustrating than watching two thirds of an episode and then it just stops loading, buffering without getting anywhere.

Here's to an afternoon of Stargate Atlantis.

I didn't doubt they'd kill him when I saw him in the first episode. I knew Sheppard was supposed to be lead male role, so there wouldn't be room for Patrick. Really bad make-up in his death scene aswell.

Ok, so I'm about halfway into the first season of Atlantis. What I don't understand about these wraiths and the humans battle with them is this.

Why didn't the Atlantis crew bring ANY zats?! They've got millions of the things on earth.

How come the well trained soldiers, armed with p-90s that are supposedly very lethal and very precise even at a good distance, aren't able to shoot the wraith in the face or blow their heads clean off? Why oh why do they always shoot them in the chest? Have they ever heard of sniper riffles?

Why don't they steal the Wraiths own weapons and begin using them instead, because bullets are next to useless.

Generally I'm disappointed so far, how little the writers have done about the wraith. They're nothing but vampires in space. There's no more depth to them than killing machines that travel through space.

the writters should have done more to portray them as feared by the populace as mythical demons, much like we see the Goauld feared in the SG1 series.

I'm hoping more is revealed about them than plain predators.

EDIT:

What's even more weird. They don't seem very sophisticated. Their ships don't have any real shields. Their weapons are crude, no better than Goauld weaponry, yet the supposedly defeated the Ancients.

A fleet of the new pegasus type human spacecrafts could easily blow them out of the sky.

I'm hoping some kind of vampire leader or something like that shows up sooner or later.

I only recently discovered Sg-1 and I got hooked. It's hilarious and deep and whacky. I can't get enough. It's slightly addictive.

Now I'm in 2nd season of Atlantis. Love it.

apt: all will be revealed later

but the thing with teh zats is that the writers want a new start and don;t wanna bring too much over..

also they are trained troops, trained to shoot at center of mass not snipers...

ancients lost due to numbers..

1000 club wielding barbarians will kill the most highly trained and equipped soldier no matter what

The thing about numbers doesn't really count in the case of the Ancients. They created machines that can wipe out a galaxy worth of life, they have so much knowledge that in 10.000 years the Asgaard weren't beginning to scratch the surface. It seems like sloppy writting to me.

Maybe if the Wraiths were able to use magic, or had magic like technology, they would make more sense. Things like them becomming incorporial, taking control of other bodies, turning into animals and stuff. Making them hard to defeat like Earth fighting the Ori and their priests.

I'm taking your word for more about the Wraith being revealed, because right now they're just silly vampires that sleep a lot.

don't worry bout it apt. The wraith really are space vampires more or less, but they are tough as nails. I hated them at first too...but now they're pretty cool. They get a fair bit deeper in Seasons 2 and 3 when you learn about origins and such.

Also, super glad Robert Patrick got pwned. Shepard is teh win. Way more suited to a SG team commander role. Patrick is just too stiff of an actor to pull off the quirky humor of the SG series.

Also started the daunting task of watching SG-1 all the way through. I'm on Season 1, Episode 2. Holy shit there's a lot of eps in this series. I'm just glad alluc.org is run by scifi/anime dorks so the SG1 links are usually good quality.
